New To Group Just Introducing Myself

Recommended Posts

I had lap band surgery on October 26, 2011. I lost 20 lbs on my pre op diet. My heaviest weight was 255 lbs. I lost 50lbs about 2 years ago gain back 25. When I started my lap band journey I weight 225. I have high blood pressure and diabetes and arthritis in my knees. Because of these conditions I decided to check into surgery in order to better my quality of life. I am happy I took this step. Today I weight 199 lbs. I have not been under 200lbs in over 30 years. I no longer take a blood pressure medicine. My blood sugar is a work in progress. I have had two doctors visit since my surgery.I had my first fill on Dec. 6. I was a little dissappointed I am still very hungry and can eat more than a cup of food at a

time and have lost only four pound since surgery. My next fill is scheduled for the second week in Janauary. Looking forward to that.

Hi,

I'm new also.

I don't know how to post to all members.

It asked me to name a person I wanted to send my note to?

I had my surgery on Dec. 15. Am doing well. Haven't lost since I started soft foods, but lost 20 between pre surgery diet and now.

I also started at 255 and now am 235 and have not seen the 230's for I don't know when.

My arthritis is acting up without anti inflammatories and I also have bad knees.

I am very tired as yet.

I had a ploication with banding.

I tire easily but I think I am doing great for 2 weeks post op.

Jeanam I was banded on 12/29 also. I am feeling really great and can start mushies next week. I was 270# at pre-op 12/22. Today I am at 258.8#. Tomorrow is my first post-opt visit. I weighed 311# when I started this journey in April at the seminar. When the #2 granddaughter wanted me to get on the floor to have a tea party, and I knew I wouldn't be able to get back up, I knew I had to do something. It took another 2 years and a diabetes scare. Healthy Life here we come.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
