I am not a Dr. but I think that you are just swollen from the surgery. Give it about a week and it should start falling off. If nothing happens by then I guess I would give my Dr a call and make sure everything is where it should be. Good luck!

I had surgery on 12/21 and was up about 10 lbs before it was all said and done (3 or 4 days later). I wasn't eating much of anything after my surgery and when I did eat it was a teeny tiny amount of broth or sf popsicles.

I think it's mostly the swelling from surgery. They pumped me full of fluids while I was at the hospital. I think I finally got back down to my day-of-surgery weight at about day 9 or 10 post-surgery. Hang in there...just worry about healing and staying hydrated right now.

I was banded 12/29. I am only weighing in once a week, on my weekly bandaversary. My husband bought me a Weight Watchers scale a few days before my new life began. I lost 42 lbs on WW and 3 lbs on pre-op liquid diet. I promised myself I would only weigh once a week just as I did the 6 months I went to WW. I don't want to be a slave to the scale.

Its the darn IV fluids the fill you with. My lapband surgery i wasnt on an Iv for more than a few hours but after both my bowel surgeries it was days. I could even bend my fingers and toes, i was getting so impatient with the nurses, i w ready to rip the datn thong out. I too was heavier when i got home despite going without food for days and then followong a shorter clears to liquids to solids routine. Took two weeks to pee it all out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
