Unfortunately, this is one that only you can answer. My hunger levels vary from day to day. When I consider a fill I look at things like my hunger level between meals--do I want to brainlessly eat all the time due to true hunger? I look at how often I get stuck. Can I eat soft, doughy breads? Can I eat chicken breast? How much can I eat at one sitting? Do I have to eat slowly or can I slam it down quickly.

Considering all my answers helps me to decide if I need to go see my surgeon for a fill.

You do not give enough info.

When were you banded, have you had any fills yet, if so how many.

Being "Full" IMO is not a trait given by being banded. Satisfied and Not Hungry, or lack of interest in food is.

The treatment plan for being banded is this:

First, after surgery, it is the goal to get you fully healed with no complications, and "Back To Normal"

Then, it is the plan, through a series of fills, to get the proper amount of Fluid in your band to get you within the "Green Zone"

After that, it is maintenance, with light adjustments, to keep you there.

Well i wS banded on 10-07-11 and i have had 2 fills really bcuz my dr scheduled them. I have a total of 3cc in my 10cc banded. I have lost 19 lbs but more or less from the post op diet. I "feel" a slight restriction once in a great while.

I can eat anything still nothing gets stuck ever im actually worried what that feels like. I can eat meat bread an such without a problem. I also have only had one PB after my second fill an nothing ever since.

I guess i do need a fill after typing this all out ;)

Sounds to me you're on the right track.

Everyone is different. I got 4 cc's my first, then 2 fills after that.

Getting stuck is unavoidable due to our old habits of eating until we learn new habits. That is what "banister hell" is all about. Learning a new life.

If I was guessing I would say yes you need a fill, I was banded in Oct, and need my third fill which is scheduled on the 11th of Jan. I feel restriction, but am experiencing hunger between meals. So that is why I think I need it. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
