Dropping In To Say Hi And Introduce Myself!

Recommended Posts

Hello All! I am so glad I found this board! My name is Lakeisha and I am happy to say I have made the decision to have the lapband procedure! I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have struggled with my weight for the last 20 years and I decided to do something about it! I have lost 54 pounds through diet and exercise, but I still have a ways to go before I am at a healthy weight.I have completed my insurance requirements and on the advise of my patient advocate at True Results, I started my liquid diet on Wednesday. I am just waiting for my surgery date at this point. So today is day three and i think it will be easier. wink.gif

I am in Houston and am looking to make some new friends! :)

Welcome Aboard !

Nice to see New Faces.

As you do your research, go all over the Boards, and read all you can.

Knowledge is everything with the band, It does help to understand the beginning stages - Red Zone.

The Green Zone will fall somewhere in between for you, and that's what you want.

So read up, and talk to us sometimes.

Shirley.

Hey, sweet girl! This site is awesome and SOOOO helpful - like you, I joined before my surgery and am so glad that I did. Found out lots of things they didn't tell me and awesome support. I'm 17 days out from my surgery and I'd do it again. I'm with True Results in Richardson, TX and feel like a new person.

Ask lots of questions and read the forums - knowledge is POWER!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
