Cynsae 1 Posted January 4, 2012 Hello all, I was banded on 12/20/11, I lost 12 lbs pre surgery. The process was very easy, I see my surgeon today to see how much I have lost. My issues are pain in my left shoulder, soreness around the port and irregularity. I will speak to my dr concerning these issues. I've been eating mushy foods since week 2 and it was a relief, I was so tired of Soup. I have to learn not to try to consume too much, I did one time and I had pain in my shoulder and chest pains. Good luck to everyone and God bless
laddie1229 18 Posted January 4, 2012 7th day post-op. Feeling pretty darn good. Still some tenderness at port sight, I get pretty gassy after I eat. And am I ready for mushies. One more week of liquids, I haven't really missed eating until yesterday. Today is my 1st post-op visit, I'll let you know how it goes.
blondeblueeyes 3 Posted January 4, 2012 Well it's 4:24am. nausea and pressure headache woke me up again. Do you think it's because maybe I'm still really dehydrated even though I was now able to get in 32oz of fluids last night before bed? I'm starting to worry now, though I know fear is nothing but of the devil I just pray they'll call my doctor in and hopefully he can explain what really is going on. I just read above that vomiting can cause the band to slip. I do not want to have any surgery all over again. I'm really scared now. You really haven't put in enough Water to compensate for the 4oz a day that you were doing. Sip & drink all day & hopefully you'll start to feel better real soon. Glad you got in there for them to remove some of the Fluid. Call that doctor again to get to the bottom of it or at least assure you that you are on the right track & it will just take alittle longer. Let us know. I ate some chicken broth last night (too much) and was in misery all night! Need to learn to listen to my body. Can't wait to hear what happens at 1st post-op visit! jayday93 0 Posted January 5, 2012 I was banded 12/30 and am down about 18lbs, including pre-op diet! I have always been a junk eater and a muncher, but so far I have been amazed by the fact that this first week I haven't even felt hungry!!! I know my body is still adjusting to the band, because I can hear or feel my stomach growl at times, but there is no hunger pangs to go along with that... I understand that this will change, as I progress, but definetly taking advantage of it now while I can!!! I may be wierd but I been stressing out about scarring! I been puttinf triple antibiotice cream on each incision every night after my shower, but is there anything else I should or could do?
sandybraman 18 Posted January 5, 2012 I was banded on 12/30, too, and I can't eat anything without it giving me diarrhea or gas pains. Even Water gives me gas pains, and so I don't eat which makes things worse. I've lost 15 lbs since the day of my surgery, but I know this can't be healthy. Help! enjoylifediana 8 Posted January 5, 2012 I suggest sip sip sip the Water. I think tea or broth was the best for me after surgery. The warmth of it made my belly feel better. Also...walking helped my gas pains. Just walking around the house or going to the store for a little shopping. Some people have said that Gas X helped them. I didn't try it. The walking did the trick for me. My gas pains were all gone about a week after surgery. Hope you start feeling better soon. Remember it is going to take time. laddie1229 18 Posted January 5, 2012 Sandy at my post-op today doc told me I could have gas after eating for up 2 a month. He said walk walk walk and Gas-X or Beano. Wal-Mart has an Equate brand of softgels, they are small enough to swallow, inexpensive and they ARE working.

I went to my post op visit today and was told to take senokot until I'm regular. I lost 13lbs since surgery on 12/20 and total of 25 pre and post op. GasX strips were also good too for the gas. The diarrhea stopped because of the pepto. I hope this helped
DE121911 10 Posted January 5, 2012 I was banded on 12/29. It's been fairly easy other than the gas, that took about 4 days to get rid of. A little discomfort at the port site at times. I'm down 41 lbs including the 10 day liquid stage prior to surgery. I started the mushy stage today, I am soooooo tired of liquids. Good luck!

bluetigereyes 95 Posted January 5, 2012 I had my first post op visit yesterday. I am now 2 weeks post op. I told the nurse I've been having some mushy's but she told me I have to go back on liquids for another week, my dr is VERY strict about that....so back to liquids for one more week. My first fill is scheduled for Feb 1st, I cant wait. I was told I could go to 'normal' food 4 days before my fill, but for the 2 days before my fill, keep a food diary so the dr can judge how much needs to go in the band. I've lost 4 lbs since surgery, which is ok, not as good as I had hoped, but I just look forward to getting my first fill and seeing how I feel after that. maryfran 19 Posted January 5, 2012 Hello! I was banded on the 13th and came through surgery with very little pain other than the left shoulder and that still bothers me. I am down 22 pounds since surgery saw the surgeon for my fist post-op today. He will see me again in 6 weeks to see if I need a fill. I feel great with what I have in my band from surgery but we will see as I am beginning to hit banster hell as well. Just remember the tough times are worth us all getting healthy again and feeling great
