Tomorrow Tomorrow Be Banded Tomorrow!!!

Recommended Posts

Oh wow. It's 9:30pm rightnow and I am scheduled for surgery at 6am tomorrow morning!!!! Whoop!! I am very excited except that my left nostril is plugged up and I'm very worried about this causing a problem tomorrow morning. No cough, voice clear, breathing fine. No sneezing, right nostril is ok but left nostril is jammed. No fever. When I blow my nose it's clear. I know it's just allergies or sinus. I'm freaking out!!! I hope they say it's no problem!! Wish me luck and send a prayer for me please!

I had a really bad sinus infection on the day of my surgery. It was clear after surgery because they give antibiotics. Good Luck.

You'll be fine - unless you have a fever, they'll do the surgery. If you have some saline solution, use that and it may open up your nose.

Please let us know how you're doing - I'm having mine on Friday, so we'll be going through this at the same time. Got you in my prayers tonight and tomorrow!

Ok I am officially banded!! I was checked in at the Palms of Pasadina at 5am. Was sent straight on thru at 5:30am. They had me getting my gown on and my iv right away. It was seemless. My RN Jessica made everything really nice and comfy for me. As soon as my surgeon, Dr. Tiffany Jessie, was ready I went back into the prep areas. I met the anastesiologist and my tending nurses (all were very nice and friendl) and the anesthesiologist gave me a nap time mix. I felt all spacy and tingly. Thy had me move onto the operating table an they put an oxygen mask and tole me to take several deep breaths. The nurse poked her face in and said.. Ok see you in 5 minutes. I hears everyone including myself giggle and the next thing I know I'm being told to take deep breaths and to wake up. It was a struggle to open my eyes. I felt very very very sleepy. I drifted in and out and when I was coming to I was uncomfortable. The asked for a scale of 1-10 I said 8.... But not from the incisions. The gas and the tighness in my lungs were the worst. So anywhoo the whole process of recovery at the hospital was at my own pace. As long as I was able to go number 1, drink and hold down Water, and walk around i was free to go! Made it home at 4pm and have been napping and sipping all evening. Speaking of I'm dozing now. Time to recover!! Ttys :o)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
