...as anal-retentive as me. Go on, I dare you.

It's a sickness.

I'm a computer geek. It's how I learn my living, creating software that makes people's lives easier.

So, when I had my fill in January, I decided instead of using my calendar to track my exercise and weight, I'd make myself a nice little Excel spreadsheet.

And it was a nice little spreadsheet, too. Until my data obsession got it the way.

It now has 2 tabs. One for exercise, one for calories.

The calorie page consists of a weeks worth of boxes (the past weeks are there, just rolled up.). In each box, every day, I list what I ate, and how many calories it was. There started off just being a nice little total at the bottom of each box, but now, there is a total eaten, a place for me to log my calories burned from exercise, and even a spot to include My base metabolic rate leftovers (BMR-(eaten + burned)) to track how much of my BMR is left at the end of each day. This nice little number goes into a total at the top, and is divided by 3500 (# of calories in a pound) to tell me how much weight I should have lost. Next to it is a cell that proudly proclaims how much weight I actually *have* lost.

Got that? Cause we're only just starting....

The other page started off simply: The date, my current weight, pounds lost, calories eaten, calories burned, and total calories for the day. But oh - that was too simple. There are now columns for my current BMI (calculated off my weight each day), weight lost/gained since the day before, form of exercise (currently, they all say Bike), minutes exercised, miles(from the bike), and the average mph for that day. THEN! At the top, is my starting weight and BMI, my total pounds lost, my pounds lost since I got the band, my grand total of calories, my grand total of calories burned, and a percentage of those (it was up to 46pct, but my mom came for 2 days, so I spent 2 days off the bike *sigh*, so I'm down to 42pct now). And tonight, because I have this anal-retentive sickness and this obsession with data, I added 4 new cells: Last period, date expected for next period (last + 21), then a separate 2 for 5 days prior to my TOM when my Water starts to add on, and the next expected day THAT will happen.

*sigh*

It really is a sickness :/

Please tell me I'm not the only one who tracks all this crap. If my husband ever saw this, he'd know for sure that I've lost my little mind.

He might be right.

Jill i am right there with ya. Not only excell spreadsheet, but 3 different calendars and a day timer. And on my spreadsheet I also have a tab where I keep all of my goals and dreams, and basically I am divided upwith the tabs on excersize, caloric intake, emotions for the day, weight and measurments, and Water intake. Most of the calendars only have room for the measurments and weight, but the daytimer has room for the diet and excersize and Water and emotions too.

And yes, dh says i am very anal when it comes to this. but hey, gotta be compulsive with something right? and it better not be food!!

Okay, so you created a formula... piffle! :)

On MY stats tracker page, not only do I track 16 body measurements I figure my current bodyfat percentage, as well as my new projected goal range based on the 25% to 35% body fat that is approprate for a woman of my age. Using this range of numbers I determine my current weight goals.

Now lets add a bit of testosterone to the mix.

If we're competing for geek, I want in.

I am also a professional geek. I test and break the software that people make to make life easier.

I'm sure most of you have seen my Erosion statistics. This is also a charming little spreadsheet.

It contains

16 named arrays.

3 sheets

1 VB Macro (which is going to have to grow if we get many more folks on the books)

and so many array formulae that you can physically see the calculation.

Before long I'm going to have to turn of automatic calculation to generate the data.

If you don't have any of these boogers

{=SUM(IF((countries=A29)*(other="Y"),1,0))}

going on, you arer just not adding enough spice.

We are all of us sick, Okay, who's next on this competition of anal retention?

Welp, I must be a lot lazier then the rest of you, I just bought a program to input all that stuff instead of making an excel sheet (which I'm perfectly capable of doing) and the kicker..... I don't even use it.:faint:

I have the excel spreadsheet too. It's not as complex as yours but now I've got lots of new ideas. My hubby calls me anal, my psychologist thinks it's my way of imposing order on a chaotic life, but I prefer to think of it as organized.

Ok... I have Excel, but don't really know how to use it... I keep tabs on my daily food intake in a SPIRAL NOTEBOOK! Yep, god ol' pen and paper.... Someday, maybe I'll figure the computer spreadsheet out! I guess it would be much easier! LOL Love reading the posts.

My question is, does your weight loss = what it is supposed to scientifically with the BMR calculations???

I'm about 3 pounds ahead of it, but at first it was almost right on the money.

Calories aren't an exact science - well, when we track them ourselves lol. I might have eaten less than I thought I did, or something.

Hey it's cool that there are so many of us GeekGurls! I'm trying hard not to be so obsessive this time on my #'s... but I'm normally right there with you. I'm only a week in this time. Last time I was on a diet I tracked everything in an Access program... I'm software consultant for a living so Geekgurls rule!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
