Help!! I'm Getting Dehydrated, Had Lap Band Surgery 5 Days Ago

Recommended Posts

I have had the absolute hardest time drinking enough Water slowly. I think I'm starting to get dehydrated.

What are ya'll doing to get in all of your Water after surgery?

I was banded 5 days ago. The dr said to drink 2 oz of water every 15 minutes while you are awake. I get behind, because I get busy and do things and then I try to catch up by taking larger sips and I give myself a stomachache.

I have had some popsicles - and i've tried just sipping non stop out of a water bottle. I don't have a problem with the taste of water. In fact I used to drink tons of water before surgery.

Any suggestions are welcome - I know the answer is - do what the dr told you. haha I'm trying!!

Jello, pop cycles, chicken broth, sipping Water, juice, milk. All this will keep you Hydrated. Just take your time, and you will do fine.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

I am having same problem (banded 12/22/11). Protein Drinks filled me up so much I couldn't drink enough liquids. I cut down on Protein drinks to ensure I was hydrated first because I couldn't urinate frequently enough. Ok now 3 days in. Next...integrating more protein in! A hard balance to find when still so swollen. Best wishes!

I'm 3 days now. I bought a camel bottle you can lay it on bed doesn't leak I take drinks in middle of night without sitting up to much. It has a straw that keep Water up in it so you don't suck air. Makes it easier to drink small sips.

This is what helps me: fill out a page of times in your word processor, like 7:00 ____7:30____ 8:00____etc. Print out several pages, one for each day. You are supposed to eat breakfast-write what you ate at that time. Wait 1 hour then drink water. Stop drinking water 1/2 hour before lunch. One hour after lunch, drink water again and so on till the end of the day. Write the amount down each time. The next day, get a different sheet of paper and start over. It gets easier as time goes by and you can look at what you've eaten and how much water you drink. If you get dehydrated, let your doctor know. Hopefully this will help you. I was banded on Dec 12 and have not had any problems. Do alot of walking. No lifting. Use a threadmill if possible or just walk while shopping or around the house.

We decided to change our lives and I believe it was the best decision I've ever made.

You can buy a camel mug in sports area of department store Target Walmart ect. They are pricey 16 or up but work great no air in straw. You flip up straw and bite between teeth to release Water ect. can not use for hot drink. I love it. I'm a gulped so useing this helps me drink small amts often without twisting on off caps.

I was really dehydrated for the first couple of weeks after getting the band, because I just couldn't stomach the Water. Just sip, sip, sip when you can, don't try to "catch up" by drinking too much too fast, and just rest assured that as you heal, you'll be able to drink more and more.

I use a small 1 oz. container that comes with cough Syrup, Nyquil, etc. I fill it with Water and drink it when the time comes. Works great!

Thank you so much for all of the answers. I'm going to find one of those camel bottles. After i posted this I found an ap that alerts me when i need to drink something and I can tap it to track my Water. I think it's called Hydrate!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
