After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???

Recommended Posts

My surgeon says 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids after fills. So he fills on Wed. I can eat real food on Sunday. I only use chewable multi-vitamins and melt in the mouth or very small other Vitamins. I don't get heartburn from either of them.

For my first two fills, I was told no restrictions, eat normally. For every fill after that though, was told only liquids for 1-2 days, then back to normal food. I can tell you from experience, follow those directions!!! The first time I didn't and got stuck and was in pain. Tried to eat the wrong thing. Your band gets tighter and it's swollen and harder for food to pass the first day or two. Let it rest.

I stay on liquids for a few days because I get a lot of swelling after a fill. I dont take Vitamins because I am not Vitamin deficient. I eat a balance meal Breakfast, lunch and dinner and rarely eat junk my vitamin levels are fine. I think if your not vitamin deficient your just wasting money to have expensive pee lol

DEPENDS ON THE FILL ! iF IT'S A TIGHT ONE, THEN IT'S 3 DAYS Fluid, 2 DAYS MUSHIES, THEN TRY food.< /p>

Regular 1 day fluid, 1 day mushies, then try food.

We are put on Flintstones COMPLETE/ Choline chewable s. 1 chewable 3 X a day.

The CHOLINE is a part of Vitamin B, and we all need that.

As long as I have been Banded, I have never had a problem, and they keep me peppy.

I have tried Sam's Club, and Costco's with CHOLINE, but it just doesn't have the kick.

Go to the Flintstones website, and print out a coupon, and then pick them up on sale.

I do that, and I buy the big bottles on ebay..

Good Luck, and MERRY CHRISTMAS !

Shirley.

My doctor puts me on liquids only for 24 hours, and then careful eating after that. For the first 24 hours, I have Optifast shakes, Soup, coffee, etc.

Right after a fill I go get something very ice cold to drink so it helps reduce the chance of swelling from the fill. After that I stick with liquids for the rest of that day and then just proceed with caution ......

I also have a cold beverage right after. Then my doctor requires 2 days liquid and 2 days mushie. I push it a bit if I feel ok. But I don't have much restriction yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
