I Can Eat Everything 7 Days Post Lap Band Surgery, Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

Stay encouraged, don't let your surgery be in vain. There's a lot of encouraging people on this board as well as discouraging people and I truly believe the positive people out weigh the negative people. We know it's easy said than done, and I plan to find out for myself come the new year. I've been educating myself about the procedure and the after care. Maybe you should talk to your dietitian and get some pointers. I wish well :)

Wow, I can't believe your even eating all these foods already with no complications or not .

I was told from my dr and nutritionist weeks 1 and 2 liquids, then weeks 3 to week 11 1/4 cup of soft foods (which will take me to around February 9th)

Just because your getting these things down , doesn't mean anything .... You need to let your body heal .. The first month or so is all about HEALING , not losing weight .

Im new too , but I've researched the band for over 2plus years and know it's not good to be eating these foods or eating EVERYTHING, you can stretch your pouch out or cause slippage .

Are you seeing a dietician ? I am and I have a menu she gave for me to follow if you like , I can share it with you ? Thats why were all here , to help each other .. Inbox me . Good luck to you and take it easy ...

FYI, YOU SHOULD STILL BE ON liquids !!!

I too am ABLE to things that I am not supposed to. I have tried to keep that at a minimum ...except for the holiday work goodies and the eggdrop Soup from the Chinese restaurant. Today I simply recommitted to getting back on track. I am considering everyday to be day one....we can do everything for one day, right?

I am ravenously hungry but I imagine that is b/c I have NOT been drinking my Protein. I have not been able to keep it down until I purchased new ones this week. I find that it has been easier to control myself since I have been back on the shakes. We made this commitment to ourselves b/c we wanted to be achiever our highest good. We all KNOW what we are supposed to be doing... just like we KNEw what to do do lose the weight before the band. It's up to us to DO now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
