I KEEP READING ABOUT PPL WHO EAT A SPOON OF SOMETHING AND THEY ARE FULL, BUT ITS TOTALLY NOT LIKE THAT FOR ME! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

What you are feeling is normal post-op hunger sometimes called bandster hell ! some people feel restriction after surgery some dont, if you dont then it will come once u start getting fills. Just follow your instructions given to you for post - op food etc and be patient. You arent doing anything wrong. My surgeon told me that many patients can put on a few lbs whilst waiting till their fills start kicking in so relax, even if you are hungry u wont starve to death find something else to do to take your mind off food .. except this time of year thats not easy i know but things will happen in time so just hold onto that thought !

good luck and merry christmas ...

Good to know I am not the only one out there! I did the lapband because I needed something to force me to stay on a diet and I was ready for that change. But now I keep thinking how am I supposed to be careful with what I eat for the next 3 weeks(till I get my fill) if I wasnt succesfull on a regular diet!

Totally normal. Almost everyone feels that way. Nothing's wrong with you. :)

It sucks though. But it will pass. Concentrate on healing and walking and not on food/calories. Try to get in your fluids and Protein and you'll survive.

Well I'm almost 5 weeks post op,,, I had my first fill on Monday. I lost 10 pounds pre op and then another 5 since surgery and I've been stuck at this weight since about 3 weeks post op. my surgeon didnt seem worried about it. My first fill was 3 cc's, which I def felt the first few days,, but now it's kinda back to normal and my scale is still not moving! My surgeon did tell me it can take atleast 2-3 fills before you start to loose consistently but has anyone else had this problem? I'm starting to get nervous that I'll be that one in few people that this won't work for.

you are still on liquids aren't you? that is probably why you feel hunger!

I did not worry about how many times I "drank" something at that point. It did not cause weight gain.

Not to be a downer but it took me 6 months to get restriction. Also once you are healed and at restriction you wont be full on 1-2 bites either. Once you are one solids you should be eating 3 oz of solid Protein, veggies and fruit at every meal. That is never going to be 1-2 bites.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
