Today way my follow up appointment for my procedure. It went great. I lost ten pounds since last Friday which was my surgery date. A total of 19 pounds lost including my pre op diet. My incisions are healing up well. He said that I am doing very well. He didn't even want to schedule my fill appointment yet. He wants to see how well I do for the next six weeks. If I start to stop losing weight to call and schedule a fill. Wants me to take it slow on the muchies just easy my way into them. He wanted to try a little for my dinner tonight. Just a few bites or something with Protein. He suggested Beans of some sort. So..it went well. I drove home so proud and excited about the weight I had loss and the idea of my life being changed in such a wonderful way. I got home and shared my exciting news with my fabulous hubby. He was so excited and proud too. We started talking about dinner and what we were going to do. I have not been to a restaurant since my surgery. I really didn't want to go out but, I didn't really know what I wanted. I just started to break down. I just felt like I was starting all over. Like I didn't know what to eat or what would be good. I think it might of been just the realization that this is really going to work for me. To lose 19 pounds in three weeks. Is just amazing to me. I can only imagine once I start exercising and being more active how this is going to be such a fabulous decision I made. My husband said I was probably having a break down because I have been so strong and dedicated so far and I just need to let some of the fear I had out. Which I think he is right. I have all the list of foods I an have I just need to start trying different thing to make some variety. Just feel so lucky and I think I was a little overwhelmed.

I am so thankful for this forum. I have learned so much and so grateful.

I haven't had a fill yet either. I'm not sure that I won't on my next appointment. I really have to work at not eating now and after the

holidays, we'll see. You are doing really well, and why not keep

going? There are quite a few people here that haven't had a fill

and are at their goals, so keep up the good work and we'll see a

new you in a year.

I have often felt like once I actually have my surgery, I may have an emotional moment...its like a whole new.life, and we all went through so much to get here! I totally understand breaking down, the appt you had, confirmation that you're going down the right road, and weight loss, the light at the end of the tunnel! Congrats, and a big thumbs up to hubby for being so great! You're blessed to have support like that!

I was banded last fri 16dec and this wk was hell. Tonite was dinner at my dads, this is always huge and my step mum is an amazing cook. I was gonna cancel and thought I may just try. I had little bits of everything soft, pumpkins, eggs, risotto. And I'm fine, just take it easy, when you eat take ur time and small bites. It's hard when h feel like you'll never have the same life food wise, I knw I feel sad, but I also knw it's best and my health

is way more important.

Merry Xmas.

The emotional breakdown is not unusual. I had one myself just this week. And you're right, I think it has a lot to do with sometimes feeling overwhelmed by the changes taking place in your body. I've been doing very well for 2 months now. But my trigger was very similar to yours. I was hungry. My husband was napping and I went to look for something to make myself for dinner (he is usually in charge of dinner). There was nothing in the fridge or the pantry that I thought I could eat and I was too hungry to start cooking. I just started crying. And I could not stop. My husband woke up and was at total loss at why I was so upset. Then he made me eggs and all was good.

I learned 2 things from this. Always make sure there is plenty of cottage cheese and yogurt in the fridge. And my husband is on my side.

Have a very healthy holiday. And don't be too hard on yourself.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
