cantbetoothinortoorich 20 Posted December 20, 2011 So, the 1st 4 days are hell....day five-seven I felt much better...and could eat mushies...by day ten I was eating solif food with no issue...then I tried pork...omg, Im standing there, chewing like I should...slow...happy as a lark then it hits...this feeling like my food tured to cement in my chest...Im blinking..swallowing...but nothing is moving...my eyes start to tear-up...my daughter is looking at me funny as I am frozen like a deer in the headlights...I just stand there and then the feeling to burp overwhelms me and....up it comes...mouth fulls of well chewed pork and saliva...right into the kichen sink! I have never felt anything like that before...it was not throwing up as I know it...it just came back up and out on its own! And there is my 12 y/o..."see dad, I told you not to push it!" "What have we learned dad?" I warned her this is how seagulls feed their young and I was going to make her eat it...lol.. Then there is my cat....he never sleeps on me...but now that I have five incisions and a port that hurts like hell he suddenly feels the need to walk all over my stomach and SIT on my port...what is up with 'dat?? Went to the Dr today..day 14...told him as my swelling went down I was getting more hungry....so he filled me with 2cc's...wow that felt very weird....like someone reached into my chest and grabbed my windpipe lol.... Im down 35 lbs, my BP has dived, Im wearing my thin jeans, and my belt is out of holes....so..so far, so good.... 1 Caribear reacted to this
LB4Me 35 Posted December 20, 2011 Thank you for your very vivid, but amusing post. The constant whining on here lately has been a real downer. It helps to have a sense of humor about all this. I personally think there must be something in the port that smells like fish. My cat has been extra attentive lately as well. 2 sassy k's mommy and Caribear reacted to this
kittyforet 50 Posted December 20, 2011 I've been laughing about this too. I hate sleeping on my back but it never fails, when I wake up that way, the cat is right there on it. And won't move. Cracking up about the seagull comment.

Lanie M 7 Posted December 20, 2011 Haha.. great post. I'm on day 7 now and tonight I had a spoonful of mashed potatoes for dinner. MASHED POTATOES!! It was a little slice of heaven on a plate. I'm excited to try new things to see what I can tolerate. I think I'll stay away from pork though....

Lianne 34 Posted December 21, 2011 I hate it when I get stuck and puke in front of people! Worst part really. Weird about the cat thing. Mine did the same thing! Maybe they have some kind of sixth sense and can tell there is something in there, and that it hurts us. Post op he was a constant presence on my lap, even when I had an ice pack over my incisions and port area. Way to go on the weight loss ( = Keep up the good work! sassy k's mommy 1 Posted December 21, 2011 well, first all of you are lucky that you could have solid foods by day ten.. I wasn't allow solid foods until I was 4 weeks post op.. i had to be on Clear liquids for the first week, second week creamy liquids.. I do know the creamy mashed potatoes are the BEST thing in the world when you are coming off chicken broth.. blah.. I can't even eat Jello because of it.. or applesauce.. then week 3 was mushies.. i lived on cottage cheese, yogurt, tuna salad and chicken salad during this time period.. then came week four baked chicken and soft foods.. it just shows how each doctor is different.. you will learn what you can and can't eat it changes with each fill. because I was able to eat salad at one point then couldn't and i tried last night with no problems.. H owever you will learn once you have a fill stress makes you unable to eat anything somedays you might not even be able to drink.. So, be carefull.. Welcome to the bandworld.. You did but an interesting view of the story.. Thanks for sharing..
