It's Painful When It Happens..

Recommended Posts

Hello and Happy Holidays to you all and good Luck !

I was Banded on December 1st 2011.. I call it my new "SIDE KICK" or the "Newest Addition to my family"

I seem to be still at the "burping all the time" stage lol.

But man, it hurts when I burt. Not extremely bad, but a little painful. Oh yeah and LOUD !! lol

Is there something I should be concerned about ?

No other medical problems

I dont drink through a straw.

I DO drink a little fast

and each meal consist of 1/4 of eat food item

I was banded on 11/30 one day before you and I remember burping a lot and it hurt. Now I don't burp nearly as much. I think it's pretty typical to burp.

Hope all goes well for you!

My friend was banded a year ago, I was banded 7 months ago. She still burps, I don't. Difference for us is that she still eats fast and takes too big bites! AND, she still drinks carbonated beverages! I burped the first couple of weeks (I think air from the surgery?), but all is well since then.

Thanks for the reply's

Im still of soft foods... And I am a fast eater /drinker.

But now that I had the surgery I have slowed down when it comes to food.. The drinks I still drink fast.

Maybe that's it .

oldiebutgoodie... Can't believe your friend is drinking Carbonated drinks? ?

What's the point of getting the surgery if your back to your old ways?

Im only 3weeks in , but I have been researching the Lap band for over 2 years. I thought we werent allowed to go back to sodas and others BAD things that put us here ?

I am worried about my friend. My PA said that if I followed anything to the letter, it is to not drink any carbonated beverages! My PA said that carbonated beverages is the worst offender for stretching or moving the band out of place!!! Which would mean another surgery to correct or replace! And who knows if insurance would cover it for something you caused! Is it worth it?! I of course have shared this info with my friend. She said she has vastly reduced how much she drinks, and lets the fizzle subside before she drinks. But she recently visited and still drinks and eats fast, and therefore burps alot and gets stuck! She is a sad reinforcer for me to do things the right way.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
