Congratulations! I am scheduled to be banded this week. I'm excited! I'm a little nervous, but I know thats just because its surgery. My whole process to get scheduled has gone completely smooth, like its meant to be, and I think thats what makes me the mose nervous. Its almost too good to be true. Im glad I found this forum, i will probably be on here quite a bie, especially after I start to learn my body's responses to food. I am in the Boise area, it would be great to get to know other banders around here, so I dont feel alone in the process

Good Luck to both of you .

Im so happy I did this .... Of course even though im almost down 15 lbs in less then 3 wks, I still wish it was faster .

Honestly I dont even feel any different after Surgery . Just a little tender from where the post is , but that's about it and im not hungry at all. Which can be a bad thing. Cant lose the weight if your not eating . So now I set 6 alarms on my Ipod touch to go off every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs to remind me to eat !!

You guys are gonna love it .. I know so far the key is to follow what your Doctor says and dont try to be the doctor and come up with your own way of doing things. ALSO , this is very important .. Keep appointments with your nutritionist. You should be meeting with him/her before Lapband to set your menu up for after surgery . Good luck to you all

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
