I Swear I Can Feel My Lap Band!

Recommended Posts

So, no pain, no probs, no pb's no vomits...ever!! Banded 10/28/11 and scheduled to go get a fill in january. Anyway, when I lay down flat, I swear I can actually feel my band. I think its where my sternum would be, right above and between my ribs, under my bust line. When I run my hand over that area, there's a hard lump that feels like an extra bone. Am I a freak or can anyone else feel their's? I think I can feel it even better than my port!

Wow. You are actually serious. You don't feel your band that's guaranteed. I you were that thin why would you need one then. Common sense and logic speaking here. Go to bed.

It's obviously bone that you couldn't feel before through the layers of fat.

I can feel my port. Not the band itself however.

That is most likely your port. When I was bigger I knew it was there but since I lost more weight, sometimes when I lay on my back I can actually see where the port makes the skin stand out. Don't let it worry you unless you start to feel pain from that area. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks, i'm not worried about it. It's not my port, I know exactly where that is, in the muscle on my left side. Maybe it's just scar tissue... I actually kind of liked the idea that it could be the band, it was kind of neat to feel it there. Anyway, thanks for all the input! I'll ask the Dr when I go back.

I was banded December 1,2011.. Less then 3 weeks ago. I can feel my port with no problem. I can feel it even more now because of the scar tissue forming !! The band ...ummm not so much !!

It could be the tube connecting the band to the port. I could feel mine after the surgery b/c the surgeon tacks the tube to the inside of the skin to help position the port and keep it in place until the scar tissue grows around the parts. I can often times feel the tube move to the outside of my rib cage, it is rather annoying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
