So What Does The Lap Band Do For You; Comment.

Recommended Posts

I would say I am at restriction. My surgery was about 1 1/2 years ago and I am a slow loser. Today at work and when I went to another building there was a information meeting going on in the lobby. Cookies for all. When I came out of my meeting that gathering was over but the cookies remained. I was still full from lunch (from 2 1/2 hours earlier) and while I could have eaten them (head hunger) the full feeling I had from the band helped me tune out that head hunger voice. I packed up about 6 cookies and brought them back to several of my coworkers. So for those of you wondering what the band would do for you. Ask yourself if you came across a bunch of cookies a couple hours after lunch would you be able to keep on walking? While the band won't stop head hunger it will help you say no. Think of it as a boost to your built in willpower.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for with the band.

Without a doubt.

But for me, I would not call it a "Full" feeling. You get that (or used to) after a Thanksgiving dinner.

It is more of a lack of interest in eating.

I'll see something, like a plate full of Cookies, and although I may think about eating some (head hunger) I simply have no interest or real desire in eating.

The band is doing many things for me. The trick, or part of the learning curve, is to understand how to "Listen" to the signals your band is sending.

Appetite suppression and Portion Control. Use that along with proper food choices, adequate Water intake and regular exercise, and this is the EASIEST weight loss program ever! Truly living in the Green Zone.

Only work involved is to NOT screw it up. And there are ways I will not mention or give newbies any ideas. But I read posts here all the time from people doing it everyday.

I agree with you B-52.....

I use to be an "impulsive" eater. Was not hungry, but if i saw that plate of Cookies... you bet your ass i would eat at least one with out even thinking about it. And would eat it and then think.... damn i should not have eaten that, i was not even hungry. But, if i passed it again... i would eat another.

With the band, for instance, this morning we received donuts... not just any donuts, red-velvet cake donuts.... and biscuits from a vendor..... before the band i would have taken one of each and ate them both. But i passed up the donuts and got the biscuit, but will only eat the meat and cheese off and throw away the biscuit...

The band keeps me in check.... bread, rice, and others have always been my biggest problem, and with out the band i would still be eating them... but i know i can't or i'll get stuck... so i completely avoid them...

November 10 was my two year bandaversery and i'm still at 80lbs. I would love to lose that last 10, but i could not be happier. Going from size 18-20 jeans to a 6-8...i'll take that any day.

Just filled out my paper work for my "possible" tummy tuck... Life is great

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
