Random "rolling" Pains

Recommended Posts

I got banded last Tuesday, the 13th. For the past few days, I've been experiencing these random, "rolling" type pains in my stomach. Almost like gas pains, almost like a burp coming but not quite either. I can feel it coming and what I do is straighten up in my chair to stretch my torso and hold my breath for a few seconds and it passes.

I've been sticking to my liquid diet to a T and have NO food so I know it's not a reaction to something I've eaten. I know it's not gas.... cause you know.... that still works ok the normal way. smile.png

I've also been reading that people are able to drink 2-3 ensure Protein drinks a day..... I struggle to get one down. I know I'm not getting my Protein in and my body it letting me know with fatigue and exhaustion. How do you get past this first week? (Please don't say broth, popsicles or sugar free Jello because if I see another popsicle, I might just stab someone with it.)

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

I had problems keeping down the powdered Protein Drinks too. I was also told to avoid the ensure, and things like it because of the sugar content. I went back to my local GNC and got the Isopure that like Koolaid and did well with it to get my Proteins in. (http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2612796 ) I also ordered a medical grade Protein Powder at http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/. They have a chicken Soup flavor.

Your pains are most likely gas. I had some strange ones that turned out to be gas. Try Gasx to see if that helps. And unfortunately, your broth, popsicles or sugar free jellos are going to be your main options right now. hang in there, it will get better. I am on my 4th week.

I had it bad today. Felt like a balloon that was about to pop. Having uncomfortable gas in my shoulder that will NOT go away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
