New, Confused, No Insurance to cover Lap Band Surgery, But Hopefull

Recommended Posts

Well,

I am sick of being fat! Ive been big since my tween years. I have attempted to lose weight on my own with minimal or extremely slow success. My job previously had insurance but it didn't pay for the surgery, but the doctor visits and possibly fills. This is neither here nor there now that I have resigned (the job was more stress than worth the pay, and the pay was good.) The job I have now is great pay, but no benefits. I can afford the fills and visits out of pocket but not the surgery. My husband and I are in the beginning stages of filing bankruptcy (as a result of bad decisions from our youth that still hsunt us) My credit score is a source of embarassment. I'm in a place now where while I really do not want to be this big anymore. I'm so tired of this circular motions, and its exhausting. I'm scared to go under the knife, but I'm also scared to continue being over 300 lbs. I have a seminar online to attend in the morning so I can gather more. I guess I'm watching, waiting, and hoping just now.

ok, start eating differently. you will start to like yourself more everyday! there is a group where they talk about what to eat on this site. get rid of sweets(candy, bakery goods, etc). start to concentrate on Protein and only complex carbs. just being aware of what you put into your body will help - keep a journal of everything you eat each day. drink 48oz. to 60 oz. Water everyday.

what city are you in? make sure you find a reputable doc, just cause they can do the surgery doesn't make them the best choice.

I know it is hard but start exercising. walking is the easiest and least expensive way to start.

sorry if this seems like a lot to do already but trust me, you will start to feel better.

it will be better everyday, keep us informed, that also helps. support makes a big difference. don't be alone in this pain anymore!

Thanks for the info. Honestly the whole reason Im considering surgery is bc I drink about 80-100 oz of Water, exercise about 1 hour a day each day 5 days a week, and I eat about 2000 calories a day as per recommended for my lifestyle. The problem is, the weight comes off so slow its barely noticeable and I work my butt off. I love my life, but Im sick of the body Im living in. No matter what I choose Illdef be around looking and trying to decide. Ill also be happy to chk out the food boards as well. Thanks again

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
