I have been reading posts for a few weeks, but here is my first official post.

I am scheduled for LAPBAND surgery on 3/6/2006. :D I am very excited and can't wait. (Guess I'm not smart enough to be even the slightest bit nervous). I need to lose about 150 lbs.

But, :help: , since I set the date, I can't stop eating. :hungry: It's like I'm ramping up to my new lifestyle. Get it all in because after 2/23/2006 (pre-op diet) you can't eat like this anymore. Anyone else suffering through the same thing. I am the virtual food coma ;) .

How did you approach the date? What are your suggestions?

My surgery is being done by Trace Curry in Cincinnati. Anyone else out there have Dr. Curry? What did you think?

All info welcome!

Thanks,

Dee

Dee,

I was recently banded on 2/2/06. Because I had read many posts here I knew that I would eventually be able to eat almost anything (albeit individuals vary with this). This is one reason I chose the lap band over gastric bypass. If I can offer you anything it is to know that most of the restrictions you will have in regard to food is temporary. I would not look at this procedure like you're not going to eat again, but I know what you're going through. :hungry: You might want to mentally prepare for the postoperative liquid phase, though, that has been more of a struggle for me (mentally).

Best wishes,

Kelli

Welcome to LBT! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!:clap2: :clap2:

Just remember that you will be able to eat most foods after you get banded, and everything you eat now you'll have to lose afterwards!;):D:o

I think we all got through that last supper stuff, but in all honesty, you will be able to eat most foods later. Good luck to you!:clap2:

Hello, I Understand Completely When You Say You Are Stuffing Yourself Before The Pre-op Diet. But You Shouldn't Over Do It. Hey, I Beleive I Gained About 2 Lbs. About A Week 1/2 From Eating More Than I Should Have Once I Found Out The Surgery Date. I Was Just Band On Friday Feb. 1oth. So I Am 4 Days Post Op. The liquid diet Sure Is Hard. But It Will Be Very Well Worth It. Good Luck On Your Surgery.

Dee~ Best advice I can give you is PUT DOWN THE FORK!!!! You will be able to eat again and at times its gonna still be hard for you not to eat the wrong things and to much of them! I know it is hard and you feel like you will never eat aginbut you will. Hang in there and take each day at a time!! Good luck and congratulations on getting your band date!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
