Calorie Counting/tracking Website Advice

Recommended Posts

I am looking to find an easy to use online calorie counter/tracking system. I tried to use the Realize My Success one and most of the foods I entered were not found on the website. Any suggestions would be great. I hope to find one with a large food library. Thank you!

I use myfitnesspal and so do many others from here.

It's easy to use and if you want you can even input you'd personal recipe ingredients into the system and it calculates all of the nutrition info for you.

You can have your food diary private where only you see it, or where just your friends can see it. That helps keep me accountable, knowing people will check out my day. It's also a great site for support and encouragement.

Good luck.

I second myfitnesspal. I used to use live strong, butr after seeing so many people here use mfp, I switched and like it so much better. I love their forum, I've learned so much. Also the App is great for my phone, I can see the breakdown of all my macro nutrients that I've hard for the day right there (which I could not on the live strong app). I highly recommend it.

I use the free app Calorie Counter on my Droid phone.... its hooked into fatsecret.com so you can track online too.

I cant recall the last time I couldnt find what I was looking for. But in the event I do, it has a bar code scanner you just scan package of the food you are eating and poof... its in there. You can track weight and excerise on it as well.

Almost every chain restaurant is hooked in so that makes it super convenient!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
