Changing Doctors

Recommended Posts

I called Dr. V's office yesterday. Having already done all of my preliminaries, Stephanie said I could potentially be scheduled for surgery very quickly, maybe within weeks.

Dr. K's office e-mailed me stating they still did not have an update for me. I went ahead and told them I was going to pursue Lap-Band through another physician. Dr. K e-mailed me back personally, and was VERY gracious, stating -

Karen,

I am sorry we could not get things arranged for you. I think you are an excellent candidate for the lap band and are going to very well.

If you ever have any questions or problems, please do not hesitate to contact us. Best of luck.

Tim Kuwada

I bet you'll get a date very soon. My GF got approved and had a date within a week. They called her yesterday and she's starting her liquids tomorrow. So I'm sure things will go quick for you.

I'm excited for you!

Karen, you have been so patient. I was kind of wondering when you'd decide to change docs. Kuwada sounds like a lovely person, but to have to wait so long for a date is so discouraging. I know you are anxious to get moving again. Good for you. He'll have a nice Lap Band practice when he gets it moving. But you need to get moving, too!! I'm sure we'll be hearing good news soon, and a DATE for you! Woooot!

I'm sorry things didn't work out with dr. K's office, but you will really like Dr. V. I liked him. You have more patient than I ever was. Like angie said, hopefully you will have a date or be banded by our March meeting. Lookout summer, here comes sabre in her bathing suit ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
