What Did I Do??

Recommended Posts

Ok to start I haf a fill last week, it was too right so I spent 20 hrs not being able to keep anything down, not even my saliva. So I was slimimg every 10 mins. I went back last Thursday and they took the whole 3/4cc out which was my while last fill. My stomach is still swollen I think. I can't eat much still. I think I'm experiencing what I should have been feeling all along, but I just tried to eat a toastada, and couldn't even eat half without it coming back up. Did I damage my band you think?

I doubt it. Your stoma (band opening) is probably just swollen. I think if you

stay on a liquid diet for a few days, it should be OK. Try something warm in the morning. It'll help ease things a little.

If your band had slipped. you wouldn't be able to swallow anything. I still think you should treat it gently for a while.

If you're really concerned, contact your doctor.

a tostada, is not a good choice. Try soft food first, yogurt, Soups etc.

You did not mention how long you have been banded, is this your first fill? How many cc's are in your band, etc.

I have had 3 fills, the last one was in May.

My Dr. has told me I am on a knifes edge, 1/2 cc either way can possibly tip the scale and make a huge difference, and I could have the same problems as you are.

As a side note, I am very careful about eating anything crunchy or doughy.

I got banded May 5th. This is my 4th fill. I still keep taking it slow. I've been on Soups and softs for a week and thought I'd try the toastada. I normally can handle it. I guess my tummy has changed it's mind. I'm down 62 lbs. So I've been doing something right. :0) Thanks for your help! :0)

If you continue to throw up, please call the doctor again. They will want to know. Right now, I am without fill at all, because with my first fill, I started throwing up. I am on medication now, and hope to go back to the fills soon, but the doctors want to make sure that you are not damaging your health.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
