My Cruise....

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I just got married on Dec 3rd and went on a Mexican cruise the day after. After losing 104 lbs in 2 yrs, 8I finally gained 5 lbs. I've been on 2 other cruises since banding and didn't gain but this time I ate a lot more. I think I need a fill. Unfortunately were visitng familt 4 the holidays out of state until january so I can't get one till then. Now I find myself worrying about calories and my weight. Haven't worried about those things in a long time. My husband keeps trying to get me to eat lo carb (he's lost 80 lbs that way) bu5t 8I refuse to diet again. I spent my whole life on a diet and that's why I got the band. Hopefully a fill will help get me under control again. I can defiantely eat more now and I don't get stuck very often.I guess ill just enjoy my holidays and get a fill when I get home. And I was only 9 lbs from goal...oh well.

Happy holidays everyone

No big deal at all, just a tune up in living with the band which we older banders will probably always need! I really like your attitude...no dieting!!!

Reading this I am just glad to see you are not deiting. I am still a new at this and I have only had one fill and not loosing like I would like and I keep thinking I need to also go on a diet. But then I think why did I get banded? I get another fill tomorrow so I hope that will help. I can't wait until I am as close as you are to my goal! I love the hollidays but wish all the food did not have to go with it! Good luck.

You'll be okay, I just cruised for the 1st time in November. I have been real loose and then had gained 4 lbs so, today got a fill. I am quite tight, but look better a few lbs thinner. That what the lapband and fills are for though! Good luck. Karen

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
