How Much Do We Start Walking After lap band Surgery And When?

Recommended Posts

I have been really tender lately on the biggest incision I assume where my port went in. I am ready to go to the gym, but a little on the skeptical side since the soreness affects my left side of my stomach. Pretty much from top to bottom. Should I wait longer? I had my surgery on Dec 7.

You should start walking at the hospital and when you get home, walk

just as much as you can, comfortably. It helps overcome anesthesia, CO2

used in the surgery, and just plain excercise. It's a little early for the gym,

you should probably wait about 6 weeks before anything heavy.

Well I would ask your doctor but my doctors care instructions say to start walking as soon as you possibly can- granted you feel ready ...and it says that even vigorous workouts will not effect the incision. I plan to start my workouts ASAP after mine is put in!

i was walking the day of the surgery, i was at the gym after 2 weeks and i just had to take it really easy on the treadmill, it tends to make you go a little faster than you may be ready to handle and i would feel some discomfort and slow down. i felt a little stupid going 2 mph when everyone around me is running and speed walking but its better than hurting yourself.

It all depends on how you feel. I went for a two mile about 4 days after surgery. I was ok, I did need my pain medicine still at that point. Other than that I felt really good

You can walk right away. I got the clear from my doc at my 9 day post op visit to do cardio, but I waited till about 14 days or so. And he had told me 3 more weeks to start lifting.

My doctor requires his patients to begin walking the day of surgery but to start off slow and work up to 30 minutes/day. Treadmill and elliptical were to be avoided for 6 weeks post-op.

Ask your doctor what he/she recommends.

back from the gym. wow it felt really good. I started at 2.3 went to 2.5mph and ended at 2.7. Walked for 1 hours to get 2.66 miles and burned 445 calories. I feel great! and I lost another pound from this morning! Loving my lapband!

Walk as much as you can! I started running (albeit slowly) about 3 weeks post op. But I was walking day of surgery and progressively longer each day after.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
