Severe Back, Stomach, And Chest Pain After 10 Months With Lap Band Surgery

Recommended Posts

I am at the 10 month mark and haven't lost any weight in 4 months will fills once a month. Last night I had such severe back, stomach, and chest pain that I could not move. I tried gas strips as well as Water. I kept dry heaving. This all started with mid back pain. After about 3 hours of this I finally threw up something long and green. The only thing I had eaten was fish that I had already threw up early in the day and Soup that I was able to keep down. This is the 2nd time this has happened , but the last time it was just mid back pain and no throwing up green stuff. I go in for a fill Wednesday, but am ready for them to take the band out. I am sick of throwing up all the time and not losing anymore weight. I've told the doctor and he acts as if this is normal. I haven't been able to eat a solid meal in over 6 months and that was only because he loosened it when my stomach and esophagus were swollen. Does anyone else have these issues?

It almost sounds like it could be a gallbladder problem if you still have your gallbladder. I had sever stomach and back and should pain when I had the attacks. Towards the end I was throwing up bile because I had a stone in the duct.

I also agree with the above post, that sounds like the kind of pain I used to have from my gallbladder before it was taken out. Maybe you should ask your doctor to see if he can order an ultra sound.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
