You might be eating too fast...I get discomfort as well when I eat too fast. There really isnt a set amount of calories you can have so limit yourself. Try different foods so you can have variety and not just mashed potatoes, even though that was also my favorite meal. Try some banana its soft enough for you to eat, make sure you chew thoroughly and give yourself time between each bite. Also make a list of the foods that give you discomfort, so you can try to avoid them.

I have a new list of enemies that give me discomfort. bread, tortillas, rice, and pretty much anything with breading. Sometimes ill have a small amount but I make sure to chew it all the way if not I get that pain you are talking about and then hiccups.

Good luck, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Yes its hard getting use to eating slowly and I say this to you almost 2 months after my surgery. To be honest with you I stopped drinking Protein shakes after my surgery but then started again after my first fill. I would think that eggs should be good but try some blended Beans especially if you cook them yourself they will be better tasting. Try playing with your Protein Shakes to change up the nasty flavor...example

1/2 cup of yogurt (whichever)

1/2 cup of banana and strawberries (from the frozen section work fine and last longer)

Splash of soy milk (vanilla flavor adds more)

and 1/2 of serving of that terrible protein...and blend the crap out of it.

The frozen fruit makes it taste like a smoothie, and you can add more milk to reduce the taste of the protein... refrigerate the left overs and have them the next day.

Well after the fill the Dr. said to be on liquids again for 2 days...its the only thing that will keep me full, I hate broths. On the 2nd day after my fill I ate 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes and they were fantastic! LOL. How do you hate milkshakes? :D It gets terribly easier...especially if you didnt have a fill with your surgery you can pretty much eat normally but like I said if you eat to fast it will hurt. I am making my own way pretty much, guess I am a rebel, I do my own thing and part of the Dr.'s orders. Its my first fill since my surgery and Dr said for me to go back once I feel that I need to...weird right?

Words cant express how great I feel I did this...Weight loss varies depends on what I eat and if I over ate (before 1st fill cant really over eat now =[ ). You will look back and see that this is just the tiniest tip of the iceberg.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
