ok.

met with the nutritionist today for my pre-op consultation.

we discussed the pre-op diet, the 2, 4, 6 month post-op diets,

and the lifetime diet.

i'm fine with all of it,

but i was sad to learn that i'll be eating my last bagel soon.

how is living without good ole doughy bread?

I fondly remember bread.. and what all it has done for me over the years. I keep momentos of our long relationship so I never forget the intense addiction we had to one another. All the times I so lovingly held the softness in my fingers, smelled the aroma, the melting butter soaking into the delicsious fluff of white. MMmmm... Here, let me show you a few momentos. Here are my thighs, notice how they resemble large blobs of dough. And look, here is my double chin, placed there with loving care by pastries and buttery garlic bread. And oo.. look.. here on my lower back, see these rolls? *smiles* Ah potato rolls, hard rolls, cinnamon rolls.. need I say more?

It hurt to say goodbye to my love, but it had to be done.. and do you know why? I'll tell you why.. because,

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!

Its really not that bad.

(not as bad as you think it is)

When Im really craving a fresh hot roll - just out of the oven - with melted butter oozing over the sides.... Ill get one and take a small bite... then regret it.

Then Im instantly cured of my bread cravings.

I just ate a toasted sandwich for lunch, and I had my second fill yesterday. I think too much bread is best avoided, I dont think that white bread is a worthwhile food at all and I did in fact stop eating that sort of thing quite a while before banding. But I do eat spelt bread which is a good, heavy, low GI organic bread and find it a worthwhile addition to my diet.

As my doc pointed out to me yesterday, there will come a point where the trade off to being filled enough to continue losing will be not being able to eat bread, or meat, or other foods. So be it, I'm finding the adjustment to a restricted diet to be quite gradual and not too difficult to deal with at all. I actually havent eaten a piece of steak or roast beef or red meat in that form at all since I"ve been banded 2 months ago, not because I"m avoiding it but I just havent thought too.

Its much harder thinking about giving up these things than it is actually doing it. And it's not always necessary either by any stretch of the imagination - I've lost 12% of my body weight in 2 months and I was a low BMI patient to begin with.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
