I'm Losing So Slow That Im Starting To Get Demotivated

Recommended Posts

I think you're doing great and you sound like you've expressed your frustration and are feeling better.

Yes, the band is a tool, yes, you have to do the work and yes, it's not designed to create more than 1-2lb lost per week when you work with it. But I think if we're honest, weve ALL harboured that secret fantasy that the weight will simply pour off and we all want to be thin yesterday. Its normal to feel a bit impatient.

However, if you want to influence and speed up your loss, there's five other days in the week that you're not exercising!. Twice a week wont cut it for that long, you really do need four or five sessions for the best results.

I was banded Oct 14th & I had my first fill on Nov 18th. I have 4.8cc in my 14cc band. The scale was not moving for me at all in the first few weeks. I went down a few pounds and I thought okay here we go but then Thanksgiving week, I gained 2#'s... I guess the scale heard my cries bcuz the week after I gained those 2#'s, I ended up losing 4.8# and then an additional 4.9#'s last week on weigh-in Friday. I got on the scale yesterday & i had gained a pound. So I guess the scale moves when its ready. It has the option to go up, down, or not move at all... just appreciate the pounds that u have dropped. U earned that & more pounds will drop off soon!!! Be patient. I'm not sure if I have the best restriction but I am satisfied eating less than 1400calories a day & I exercise at least 4days a week doing Jazzercise, Aqua-Zumba, the Wii, and I love walk away the pounds with Leslie Sansone. We all have struggles & are still learning new things everyday but stick with it. The end result is what really counts!!! A year from now u won't even remember all these obstacles bcuz they will be in the past. Next year we will be giving a newbie the same advice others are giving us. Good Luck my fellow October Bandster!!! We have to stick together!!!

And when I posted 3/4 pound...I mean 3 quarters of a pound. 0.75 pounds. Not 3 to 4. Just for clarification.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
