It depends on what you put in the salad. If it is really fibrous, it can be hard to get down. Otherwise, I don't have problems with salad. chicken breast on top is a no go for me.

I eat salads quite a bit. I agree it depends on what is in the salads. I had taco salad last night, made at home with spring mix type lettuce, onion, red bell pepper, light red kidney Beans, ground beef, cheese, a few fritos for crunch. The light red beans are softer than the dark red. Today I had a shrimp and spinach salad at applebees for lunch. I can't eat all the salad or all the shrimp. I tend to have trouble with tomatoes and cucumbers. It's trial and error to figure out what works for me. I never use iceburg lettuce. Sometimes I take spring mix type salad to work for lunch and add things like cheese and sunflower seeds. With salads I just make sure I chew every bite well.

I ate salad all summer long every day, i just cut up everything really small before eating, i can only eat hot fresh cooked chicken breast, cold chicken is a big no no for me. Salad Dressing i would make myself from lemon joice, white wine vinegar, wholegrain or dijon mustard and splenda i would also put some chilli flakes on the tomatoes to save me using salt ..

I was worried about salads at first, but once I ate one I knew it would be fine. You will find though that if you eat the Protein in the salad first you do not have much room left for the lettuce

I just started eating salads recently. Sometimes I have no problem getting it down and sometimes I do (but that's most things for me). I say chew, chew, chew if you are going to try a salad.< /p>

I had salads all last week for lunch...I used baby spinach instead of iceburg lettuce though with some chick peas and chicken breast, plum tomatoes, carrots, and cheese. It worked well and kept me full for quite some time!

Thanks y'all!! I heard iceberg was the worst! I am excited now, cause I love me some salads. I have found that me and bananas do NOT get along. I ate one for a snack and 15 mins later I felt like I have a stomach bug.

Bananas don't work well for me either. Tomato skins can be tough to eat, also. Take each bite slowly. If you get ANY pain, stop and be sure all is well before proceeding. I do fine with iceburg lettuce. Remove the strings from celery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
