my2dogs 0 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi all, I went to my seminar this week. I have a BMI of 36. My cholesterol is 274. The cholesterol meds made me feel awful so I can't take them. Has anyone go approved in NC with just having high cholesterol? If I read the policy correctly, I think I would qualify for lap band. Anyone have a similar experience with NC BCBS?? Thanks, Linda
Jennflamz 1 Posted January 6, 2012 Did you get an answer? Were you accepted with BCBS? I have BCBS. I'm in VA on TN border. dr in TN. I have BMI 39 No comorbids. I had to contact BCBS today as rejected according DR office yesterday need BMI of 40 without comorbid So BCBS advised if DR sent letter asking for review then possible for BCBS to approve. Tomorrow I will call DR office again. Ugh. Guess I could stuff myself to BMI 40 but I just don't want to be any larger at all. Good luck to you.
manybeards 6 Posted January 7, 2012 With your co-morbidity,a BMI of 36 should get you qualified without any problems whatsoever. I live in Wilmington, and NC BC/BS initially turned me down, but my BMI was only 39 and I have no Co-mobidities. Sadly(or happily depending on how you look at it),I gained a few more pounds and was approved. Best of luck to you.......
