kll724 3,055 Posted December 6, 2011 WOW! my hero!Nancylee219. You are doing great, and I ma glad to hear that basicly, you are never too old for lapband surgery. I had mine done at 61. I am happy to be at goal, something I have never achieved on any other diet. Good luck to you both. Karen 1 New Me reacted to this
nancylee219 5 Posted December 6, 2011 Thank you for the encouraging words. I am the oldest person to have had this surgery in our area. The Doctor was a little hesitant due to my age and multiple health problems. I did very well with the surgery, have had 3 fills since June 21, 2011. My biggest problem to date has been wanting to overeat and then being sick. Trying to slow down and stop when I get full. After so many years of eating large portions it is hard getting use to such a small amount of food. My wife no longer uses dinner plates, we use the dessert plates and they are not full! Two months after my surgery I ended up with a knee replacement that caused far more problems than my lap band. I use to wear oxygen 24/7 no longer need it. It is wonderful!! 1 lucky2bLAURA reacted to this

MelindaH 3 Posted December 7, 2011 What a phenominal story! Congratulations. I am almost 55 and one of my reasons for having it done was that I wanted to live to be your age. I know it is hard getting used to the small portions but it will be so worth it. Take good care, drop in often and keep us abreast of your progress! All the best to you, Melinda 1 New Me reacted to this

54Shirley 105 Posted January 4, 2012 I had the Band done in my early 50's, then had a right knee replaced soon after. About 6 moths later I had the other knee replaced. It went out equally. ! am glad to hear that you are doing well, and know your way around on a computer. A lot of people are still afraid to pick one up. Congrats Bandsister.. Shirley. Cocoabean 430 Posted January 5, 2012 My biggest problem to date has been wanting to overeat and then being sick. Trying to slow down and stop when I get full. After so many years of eating large portions it is hard getting use to such a small amount of food. I snipped your quote a bit. CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is so true for so many of us. I don't know about you, but even when my pouch was full, my mouth wanted to continue to eat. I was used to the taste, texture, and experience of a certain amount of food. Eating less just left me wanting, until my brain got re-trained and used to consuming far less.
54Shirley 105 Posted January 5, 2012 Sounds like maybe they should band the brain instead ! It might help all kinds of head hunger.
