Could I Have Hypothyroidism?

Recommended Posts

I've suspected this for years, but was never diagnosed. Not only has my weight loss has slowed to an absolute crawl, I'm always cold, I feel sluggish a lot, I have trouble focusing ("brain fog"), and have zero libido, among other symptoms. My father also takes medication for this condition, so it definitely runs in the family. I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, but I seem to have more symptoms of hypothyroidism even though they can mimic each other. However, my levels are normal according to my doctor. Has anyone else ever gone through this? What did you do about it?

I have asked my doctor's office to run additional thyroid tests when I do my blood work for my yearly physical. In the past my thyroid levels have been low. However the Nurse Practioner was like "oh it's not that bad". I think most doctor's offices don't want to admit a fat person can actually have a thyroid problem. They think we will use it as a crutch. My loss has also slowed to a stop. I am always cold, I have Hair loss and am fatigued.

I have hypothyroidism. My thyroid was barely functioning and I was extremely heavy, tired, and depressed. My gyno is the one that wanted me tested and sure enough, he found the problem. I got on the right dosage before my surgery and now that I am losing weight, my dosage has had to be reduced. Make them test it again, I wouldn't take no for an answer.

Ask if you can see an endocrinologist and have a full thyroid panel run. Just running the TSH level doesn't always tell the full picture of thyroid function.

But just a note, my thyroid was radiated and barely works, my dosage of hormone puts me on the hyperthyroid side and I am always cold. The only time I was warm was when I was well and truly hyper just before my treatment with radiation to kill the gland.

Have all those symptoms except for the trouble losing weight. I just had my thyroid level checked, it was nornal, however, some experts belueve you feel better with TSH levels in the low normal range, rather than high normal, which can actually be subclinical hypothyroidism. My sister is hypothyroid and she was very ubwell before being diahnosed, with terrible bowel and menstrual symptoms.

Id suggest ypu ge full bloodwork done as I am also anaemic with complete depletion of bodily Iron stores and post menopausal - induced by cancer treatment, and tjose symptoms also are connected with those conditions. The brain fog is terrible. I los my car, can find th words fir things I want to say, cant articulate thoughts an have no short term memory.

I'm always cold - probably because the layer of fat is no longer there to keep me warm. I often have brain fog but i think that when you are in your 20 - 30s it is due to Mummy brain and after that it is due to menopause. Most of the time I have zero libido - I think that is due to having been married for 18 years( If Shemar Moore came knocking I might feel a bit different). I think a lot of the things you are experiencing are normal. Most people don't have heaps of energy and a libido like a rampant rabbit etc etc. Advertising and Tv make us expect life to be a lot different to the reality. We lead busy lives and that in itself makes a person tired.

If your thyroid has been tested and the results are normal then they probably are normal.

I have a hypo thyroid. Before I insisted on seeing a Endocrinologist, I was diagnosed with Hypo., then Hyper. ?

My opinion at that time was "O sh1t ! ! ! That ain't good !' Response = No it Ain't !

So I seen my Mother-in-Law undergo Parathyroid Cancer surgery "Complete Removal" Even though this is not the same thing,I remember when her surgeon said if the TSH Levels goes up, and down all the time... It's time for Removal.

So I said I want to see a specialist. She agreed.

I have been on Armour Thyroid, and my Levels are in Normal Range.

This is coming from someone that fell asleep behind the Wheel ! Scared me to Death ! Awake/ then out cold/ then waking up almost running off the road. I opened all Windows, Turned up the Radio, and Sang to that Radio. ... I never drove again, until my levels were in a Normal Range.

See a specialist, and get a different opinion.

Now of course this morning I stepped on the scale and lost 2 pounds...I don't get it! It couldn't hurt to get my thyroid checked again though...I'll have them run a full panel and won't take no for an answer!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
