Throwing In The Towel

Recommended Posts

i think im throwing in the towel after numerous fills and months and months of dieting and exercising, my motivation has gone away like everytime in the past. ive returned to my old eating habits and not exercising anymore. no help from the band at all and im just depressed about it. i feel like this is just another fad diet that ive failed at. i just want people to know its alot of work and not a magical cure. really evaluate yourself before you get this surgery.

I didn't feel restriction until 6 months after surgery and 9.5 cc in my band. I was frustrated too. But now I'm two pounds from a normal BMI so it will work if you hang in there.

It has been over two years and I have not lost nearly the weight I wanted to and have started eating things I should not again. But don't give up I would never go back to the way I used to be before the surgery. It has been hard but I think even if I'm not at my goal at least I am not continuing to get bigger and my health is overall better. Just take some time reflect and keep trying.

It sounds like you need more support than you are getting and really it might be wise to get back to your doctor or a different one and talk over whats going on. Is something else going on in your life that is causing you to feel this way ? from your profile you have lost 45lbs so far, that is something to be proud of and going back to old eating eating habits and no exercise will just undo all the hard work you have already put in.

It feels like whatever is going on in your life needs to be addressed with help and support and hopefully that will help u discover what is making you sabotage yourself.

Of course there are people that the band just doesnt work for but given your initial weight loss it doesnt seem like that is the case, motivation to make this thing work to me is key for a successful journey, what motivated you when you were losing weight ? , try and get that back.

Please dont throw in the towel, even if you set yourself a goal of not putting any weight back on it will help you bide time till you can sort out the emotional side of eating.

I really hope u can sort this out and find something/someone that will help u get out of this 'low' that you find yourself in ..

thanks everyone for the support i dont think it has anything to do with the support from the doctor or office there doing a great job. him and his team are actually the best doctors ive had. i go once a month i just dont update my profile.... not really sure how to, but total i am down about 70-75 pounds which just like every other diet fad is how much i usually lose and then stop for some reason nothing really motivated me per say to lose the weight which is part of the problem, besides having to go every month to see him and not wanting to seem like a failure to him, but now its just not enough or real motivation to continue i was just expecting alot different feeling and things with the band which is not the case it just isnt helping me the way its helping others. and i have posted before i dont think it is about the fill amount i already have 8.5 or 9 cc cant member now in it so there not much left to fill i just dont get the so called "symptons" everyone on here describes ya there is a little discomfort when i over eat but not to the point of stoping

My fill level means I cant overeat, its as simple as that. And yes, sometimes I still try to overeat and its very painful. I had two very long plateaus (Many months) where I thought my restriction was good so I resisted getting a fill. I guess my restriction was only good enough to maintain that weight and I didnt want to settle for that. I dont have a lot of discipline and I need a nice snug fill to keep me thin...try a fill instead of giving up...what do you have to lose?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
