Well here I am again at 230 pounds. Im stressing because even though I have lost 29 pounds in less than two months I have been here (at this weight) many times. This is always where I would end up when on a diet and exercise program. Then I couldnt lose any more. *sigh*Then I would gain it all back and then some...grrr. Told my husband my feeling on this today and his response was to laugh and tell me he thinks this time will be much different,,,yea we will see. I cant remember the last time I was below 230...*sigh*

Mark your calendar. I'm about to say something I don't normally say.....LISTEN TO YOUR HUSBAND! This time will be different. You're doing very well. 29 pounds in just a few short weeks. You have the tool you need to keep losing and not regain. Don't let your past failures get in the way of your future success!

Thank you! Starting yesterday I picked up the workouts and I just got my first fill on Dec 1st. I can tell already that my hunger isnt even that bad. I ate lunch at 12 in the afternoon yesterday and didnt eat again till about 8:15. Then when I do eat its very small portions. I dread my weigh in next week. Even if that scale says 229...it will call for a celebration!! lol

Thank you for the encouragement..I think thats all I need! :) I love these forums!

You can do it. This is different than all the diets of the past. Believe me, Ive tried them all and then some, and always ended up exactly in the same place. Im following the rules, listening to the dr, and taking it one day at a time. I agree with my friend above - listen to your husband, Unlike before I bet you think about every bit of food that goes into your mouth. That will change all the rules for you. You can do it - dont psych yourself out.

I log all my calories now and hold myself accountable for every morsel that passes my lips. I never did that before. Whenever a doctor wanted me to keep a food log I would get depressed and angry...now I do this on my own free will. Its amazing how things change in just a few months!

You can do it, and you will do it !!!!!! I was in the same set of mind like you thinking I wasn't going to break the 220's. Before the band with diets and exercise I will always seems to get stuck there, now I'm happy to report that I'm not out of the 220's and out of the 210's and looking forward to be out of the 200's.

Stay positive! This time will be different ~ you will see! I NEVER in a million years thought I would be where I am today. I weigh less now than I did in high school and even when I got my surgery I had no expectations of being at this weight. You can do it... I know you will :)

This time is TOTALLY different! My story was exactly like yours and I did in fact plateau for many months at one point and thought what you are thinking...I did end up getting a tiny fill and long story short, I KNOW I will be a normal BMIer for life...I LOVE my band!!!

For me it wasn't 230, but every time I lost 30 pounds I'd plateau, eventually give up and gain it all back. I was scared when I hit 30 but have gone on to double that! You can do this!!!!

Don't stress out. We've all had these thoughts of failure because most of us have failed so many times before. I hit a 2 mo in Sept & Oct where I gained a couple and then lost a few and figured I was going to be the poster child of lap band failure. Even though my doctor is THRILLED with even a 1/2 pound loss per week (I'm not) they kept reassuring me that it's not a race and to just keep moving forward. Also, I felt like I was getting stuck when actually, I was full. It took me 9 months to realize just how little food I need. I was eating with my eyes and couldn't imagine that 2-3 small bites of something could actually be considered a meal. I also had to realize that I get to eat again in a few hours. I think "overeaters" treat each meal like the last supper....I know I did. I was all about the volume of food I could have. I based my satisfaction on how much I'd eaten many times. I can honestly say, almost 11 months out, that food is less important to me than it used to be. I still love to cook it, plan it, watch food shows on tv, try new recipes, etc. but I just can't eat as much. However, I can eat it again later. It's an amazing concept...Literally the light bulb went off above my head! Good Luck to you!

I'm trying to get past that 30 lb mark myself. For some reason, that milestone makes it much more real!

I am so happy for you!!! :). I hit a personal milestone this week too. I made it to 209. I have been stuck in the teens and twenties, sometimes in to the mid 230's, for about 10 years. So I know how you feel. We will succeed this time because of our little internal helpers. And I love what Shelley said about eating with our eyes. It's what we've always done. But that is slowly changing for me. It's fun to have restaurant leftovers!

So stay the course and I will too!!! I look forward to your posts with your progress!!

Arlene

Banded 10/12/11.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
