Having Problems. Suggestions, Anyone

Recommended Posts

I've been banded over 2 years now. I still see my nutritionists every month to monitor my weight. She feels that i'm at my ideal weight. I'm EXTREMELY active in the gym. Since having the surgery, i've grown to love the gym. About 8 months ago, i complained of hunger so they gave me a fill. My band is currently at 5.5ccs. I went to my dentst and they removed my back teeth on my right side that i chew with. I only chew on one side of my mouth. The dentist said i will have to pay two thousand dollars to put in implants. Needless to say that i dont have it. My problem is my food intake. It's very hard to get anything down. I cannot eat chicken breast and salmon. Recently, it's been hard for me to get down tilapia fish. This is really getting aggrevating. My fiance wants me to go back to my surgeon to have them remove some of my Fluid. My nutritionists does not agree with him. Does anyone have any sugestions as to what inet so that i can feel full.

Also, When i eat, i hiccup aot, is that normal.?

Your surgeon is the expert so why not go back and ask his/her advice on whether you need an unfill or not. Chewing on one side of your mouth is a learned behaviour and over time you can learn to chew on the other side - I know, I had to do it!

Good luck

I have hiccuped a few times and it is always when I don't chew my food enough.

I hicup all the time, almost after everything I eat. For me it's my sign that my band is perfect, I love my hicups it reminds me my band is working. I have been banded for 2 years as well. Unlike you I still have to loose weight to be ideal but I feel much better than I did pre band. I never feel full....ever! It sucks and thats why I munch and nibble to much. If I took a bit out of my band maybe I could fill up more however I think I would eat too much so am willing to live with the hunger. You have to decide for you but my choice was to just drink a shake and deal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
