Bigger Appitite, Do I Need A Fill

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have had the band for a year now. I have been keeping up with my appointments each month, but each time I go I have dropped weight. So I haven't had to get my band fill. But here lately with work stress and over working, I had wanted to eat more than usual. There are times when I can eat more of the things that I usually have issues with like bread and french fries. I'm wondering if I need a fill. I have heard horror stories about people with the band that don't follow the rules. Does any veteren bandsters have any advice.

From my understanding, as you lose weight there will be times that you will need a fill to keep up with the weight loss. in my opinion I would try to stay within the range that the doctors and nutritionist have set. Don't give in to the compulsive eating or stress related eating that caused you to need the band in the first place. You probably need a fill, call your doctor and tell them what is going on and they will tell you what to do. If you need a fill sometimes you need to give the doctor a couple of weeks notice for insurance purposes. Good Luck

I was told as you lose weight you also lose the fat pad around your stomach which is why your band loosens and you can eat more. Sounds like it is time for a fill. Good luck

I agree Brenda. And stress eating is what got us here so get your fill and get back on track.

I too have been gaining more of an appetite as of late. I am glad to see someone else with the same problem. I used to eat very little of anything, but after losing about 40 lbs, i feel as if I can eat more. I have considered trying to reset my self and go on a week long liquid, week of semi solid, then back to solids just to see how my body reacts. My dr said that it wasn't a bad idea as a lot of his patients have done the same and found that it worked for them

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
