Do your fills kick in right away or do they sneak up on you a week or two later and then poof restriction?

Eileen I have had them work both ways with me, but my restriction didn't start to work until I had several fills. I thought something was wrong with my band, I would get a fill and it would feel tight for a few days then nothing. I actually started feeling the good restriction at 2.8cc.

Kryssa

I had my fill and the doc filled it to 2.8cc and I cou;dn't drink the Water down without almost throwing up, so he unfilled it to 2.4cc and it works much better.

Maybe you just haven't found the restriction you need. Check it out with your doc, stay in his office until you find it. I spent a good hour with mine until I was happy.

I see my doc again on the 21st. He said if I have learned to chew and stop Pbing he will fill me a little more then. (Yep, he's a little sarcatic but I love him for it). I've managed to eat without Pbing all weekend. Little victories...

HI,

Funny you ask that because I was wondering or experiencing the same thing. My restriction seems to be more about a week or two after a fill. I thought perhaps it was in my head but now I don't think it is. Is this what you experience also?

I've just had my second and as with my first, I was a bit tighter yesterday when I had it done, but I expect that to dissipate. All I noticed with my first fill after several days was that I would get discomfort at the start of a meal if I hoed in and ate too fast. I have to take a bite, chew it slowly, swallow it and wait a bit to see how it goes down, do that witht he first two or three bites and then generally I"m able to eat slowly for the rest of the meal. But if I jump in without thinking I get some pain.

But I've still never PB'd.

I also cant say that I feel tighter in the morning and more open at night but I most definitely have less appetite in the morning than at night.

I'm so glad you all have posted this info. I have'nt had my first fill yet and this is great to know.

Do think he'll fill me like to 2 ccs right of the bat if I ask him too? I know I don't want to be too restricted and all, but I can't afford to keep going back for a second and third and fourth etc.

Unless they are dong it with floroscopy, they usually try to creep up on it...which means 1cc at the first fill and possibly months and several fills until real restriction.

Bring your water..let the doc fill you. Then drink the Water and see how much you can swallow. That will tell you how tight you are. Good Luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
