Oh No - Need Advice!!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on October 28th and was doing fantastic (down 25 pounds) until Saturday. Since then I have been ravenous! I started adding strength training to my exercise program and am so pmsing (sorry guys!). It was so easy and then "pow!". It is like I never had the surgery. I am scheduled for a fill on Friday. From your experience do you think my band is too loose? Will this getting better after I am filled?

Sincerely,

Struggling in Memphis!

You finally are un -swollen ! That's all... In time fills will make u[p the difference, but,,, just like your first fill, you will un-swell again, then they fill it again. that's how it works.

You can go to myfitnesspal.com and learn to manage your calories, Protein, and exercise. It's Free, and it keeps everything in memory. This will help you manage your Band.

Like Shirley said, the swelling from your surgery is gone. The first fill often does not provide enough restriction either. So be prepared for that, as well. Being banded is a process, not an event. For me, it took two fills before the band started doing its thing. I woke up from surgery hungry. So I worried about it for a few months before my fills finally kicked in!

You should get that feeling back as your fills take effect.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
