I Had The Lapband Surgery 8/30/11 Why Does All My Joints Hurt So Bad?

Recommended Posts

Hi, It has been 3 months since my lapband surgery and now I suddenly have pain in my feet ,wrists, hips and shoulders and can not figure out why. I take my Vitamins twice daily and follow everything my doctor tells me ,but I hurt so bad at times. If anyone has any ideas of what I can do to stop this pain or why I am having this kind of pain let me know. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?I have lost 38 pounds so far and am pleased with my weight loss, but need to find a way to stop these aches and pains.

Just asking,,,, Are you exercising at all ?

If not your muscles can start to Atrophy.

On the other hand if you over do it, you will feel it.

Other than guessing, I would go to my PCP,

and find out.

Good Luck, Shirley.

I would talk to your dr - this could be unrelated to the Lapband. Try to notice if the pain is in both sides at the same time or only one side - I've had similar issues and knowing that is key to helping figure out the problem. Good luck!

I actually have the same joint pain, I associated to maybe a need to add potassium into my diet. I do exercise 3-4 times a week, but I don't think is related to that. My surgery was 8/19/11 and I'm also down 38lbs.

After my surgery, my knees and back started bothering me. Come to find out, I have arthritis in my knees (confused why it didnt bother me when I was heavier) and I have been going to physical therapy for my back. It has really helped but all they do is core exercises, so maybe you could try that if your back is bothering you!

I found out my nexium slowed my absorption of magnesium and I'd get horrible joint pains until I started taking it daily. But I'd check w Dr, to check levels, as you eat much less, you may not be getting enough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
