Yes. Sometimes the fill can take a couple of weeks to really "kick in". Also, I get tighter around my time of the month.

Everyone is different it seems bcuz some people feel the restriction immediately after & others feel it days later. Listen to your body, eat the good healthy food & exercise, the rest will come.

Wow I was wondering the samething, I had my second fill on Nov. 19 and since yesterday I feel that I can't eat as much as last week.

With my last fill 2 weeks ago, I felt the total opposite. I got stuck easier and was full on less food. Since yesterday though, I seem hungrier, don't get stuck, and feels like my band has gotten looser.

For the first two weeks, debated whether to go get a tiny unfil (I could still eat but started to panic) and now it seems like next Thursday 12/8 is too far away to wait for my next fill. I could really tell the band was hard At work the first 2 weeks, now I'm doing more work than usual.

My PA told me at both of my fills (the most recent was this afternoon) that I would feel restriction for about 6-10 days and then it would go away and I would need another fill. He uses the Water sipping method while he fills my band. What he said was true for my first fill. Will see how things go now that I've had my second fill...

I had a fill on 12/12/11, and today i fill like everything is getting stuck. This afternoon that stuck feeling is starting to loosen up. I thought about getting a small unfill also. I will just monitor my situation and go from there. If I have to get unfilled, i will have to travel from Las Veas, NV back to Phoenix, AZ to get it done.

I had my band filled to 9 cc, after a week (it was tight and I did feel restriction)- it all of sudden got WAY WAY WAY tight. Literally 7 days later. I have no idea why it took 7 days, but the night it went on "TIGHT" mode I thought I was going to die. Throwing up or rather dry heaving all night and the next day, finally got in to have it adjusted, but I am still messed up. It is 3 days since the loosening. Went down to 7 cc. Anyways I am NOT complaining, and I love the band, but this has been major and hurt like a mother. Just sharing.

I'm so glad to hear this...I had an "un-fill" last week...after being banded for 2 years....and the day of the unfill, I ate soup...chicken that night...it was great. A couple days later, I ate one meatball, and it got stuck. I vomited. Ever since then, I can't even keep Water down...I don't want to go in for another "unfill", but I can't throw up all day long and have acid reflux all night. Has this happened to anyone? Did you just let your stomach cool down and relax? If so, how did you do it? Eating ice chips?

Hi there, I was just banded in November for the second time; but I have 9 years of experience with an Inamed band (Allergan bought our the Inamed company.) In my experience, almost always, the band tightens up due to stress. Many people tighten up their shoulders from stress; likewise many people tighten up their stomach due to stress. For me, when teaching....during lunchtime, if the other teachers were talking negatively about their students or their day, I had trouble swallowing and could only drink Soup. However, if the atmosphere in the lunch room was calm or positive, I had no trouble eating my regular Protein loaded lunch. Think of when your band tightened.....were you experiencing stress at that time? One way to relieve the stress in the stomach is to drink a warm drink like tea. Alcohol, though not recommended, also does the trick. LOL. Best of luck, Julie G. in Ontario, Canada

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
