Lap Band Needles

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where to buy non-coring needles or huber needles or needles that can be used for fills in the UK? There are several places in the us but they don't ship to the uk

Why do you need to get your own needles? I hope you are not thinking of doing your own fills.

Why stop there? You could do your own lap band. Just think of the money you'd save!

While you can buy them they cost a lot and require specific experience about your band and its position, port depth, tubing location, current fill amount, ideal fill amount, and much more in order to be used effectively.

If you buy them and use them you will very likely puncture the tubing or tear the port and you will ruin your band and no hospital will touch you to get it out because you decided to practice medicine on yourself without a license. This will also put your psychological wellness in question.

If you can't find a physician there to give you fills then look for a nurse who is willing (and who has experience and ideally who works with a Dr who does this) or take the opportunity to use one of the great seat sales and go somewhere where someone can help you.

Do not do your own fills. You are taking your band and potentially your life in your own hands.

I speak from my medical experience not just opinion.

We know what your question was but it is a very strange question. Patients don't usually need to know where to get the needles as the Dr or other trained professional doing the fills has all their own equipment. I can't imagine that they would ever ask you to supply your own.

Well regardless to my question being strange or not if you can't answer the question then don't reply. You have no idea of what the circumstances are you are only assuming. So please if no one knows or wants to say where they can be bought then do not reply to my question. I am not looking for a debate on should or shouldn't ppl do their own fills. If you are worried that others may follow what you think I am doing and don't want to put the answer on here then there is always private messaging.

Thank You

Actually it is a good question. There is a website by a well known Lap Band surgeon that actually recommends having a needle at home in case of emergency unfills. Not to use at home of course, but to take to the hospital with you if for whatever reason you can't get hold of your regular Lap Band Dr. He said this is because while most nurses/doctors can unfill (but not fill) the band, not all hospitals carry the special needle used. I'm actually thinking of asking my Dr about this to see if it's relevant in Australia.

My doctor who was doing my fills, used a regular 25g 1 1/2 ". You can research using regular needles.

I feel your pain. Alot of people on this site are ubercritical and make this a lousy place for advice. Luckily I have found a group of 70 people and we are supportive of each other. Not like the "experts" on this site. As far as someone "adjusting" anyone's band; most physicians will not touch you period, unless it is life threatening or you "bribe" them with a large office visit fee. I did not research my surgeon and now I am paying the price. It's my fault and I take the full blame on this one. Good luck getting your needles.

I was told I should have a needle also in case of emergencies.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
