No Weight Loss Since Lap Band Surgery (july 11)

Recommended Posts

I havent lost a single pound since Ive had the surgery :( I havent been able to exercise due to a foot injury but I will be able to start back up soon. I've had 2 fills so far. I dont feel full but food gets stuck a few times a week, usually bread. Does that mean Im not chewing enough or my band is too tight? If it was too tight I wouldnt be hungry all the time. Im just disappointed :( Does drinking a lot of Water make a big difference? I dont usually drink, it's so blah!

I'm sorry to hear about that. Are you eating Protein first, then fruits and vegies? Do you snack in between meals? Also, many people have problem with bread. You may try toasting it if you aren't already doing so. Chewing may also be a problem. You are supposed to be chewing 20 to 30 bites. Also, hydration is a big deal. If Water bores you, maybe try some crystal lite? Best of luck to you! Make sure to bring up your concerns with your doctor! You probably just haven't reached "the green zone".

Hi! I hope your foot is feeling better!

How many calories are you eating? Most of us are at about 1200 calories. I use My Fitness Pal a lot! My user name is Leepfrog, look me up and friend me!! This is not only keeping me honest with what I am putting in my mouth, but also making me aware of the high calorie foods I was oblivious to. I follow Eat This, Not That on Twitter to get some helpful hints throughout the day which is helpful, too.

Are you grazing? If so, STOP! The band works if you eat meals and chew well. bread and rice are typical problem foods with the band~I have just eliminated them.

Water is a must!! Learn to LOVE IT! Our bodies are made of mostly Water, and if you are not replenishing it, you are doing more harm than good!

Good Luck!!

Make sure you are getting your Water in, I use to hate water but now I crave water! Get rid of the bread also, it does help. I eat 6 times a day with lots of Protein, not saying I eat prefect, but I follow the rules and it works. Also make sure you are getting enough cals in or are keeping it around 1200. Good luck!

Yes I would agree to eat at least 1200 cal a day and plenty of water!! I try to limit my bread intake to about once a week, but sometimes I wouldn't have it for a month. It's all in moderation though. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
