Have To Stay Positive

Recommended Posts

I am coming up on my one year anniversary for being banded, and have 15lbs to go to reach me personal goal of 175lbs.

175lbs! I have not been at that weight for over 35 years!!! It is so close I could taste it!

I have not one single complaint concerning my surgery. EVERYTHING has gone as planned and I feel I am on a POSITIVE track.

I am 110% positive about this, and I will not let anything distract or deter me!

That is why I have made the decision NOT to log into this website anymore. At least till after I each my goal.

Everyday there is more and more "Woe is me"

and "I'm Miserable", "I think I made a mistake"

And to make matters worse, is that those who have been banded a while log in and agree with them!

Ever hear the term "Self Fulfilled Prophecy?" I wish this was a place were everyone can rejoice about their success, but it is not. It is a place where people complain about

Plateauing 2 weeks after surgery, etc.

Sorry, but I'm going to stay positive and focused. I've noticed that the "Veterans" who used to be here when I first joined are now gone, or don't log in anymore.

I think I now know why. There's no reason to.

Good luck to all those seeking a life change! See you in the future!!

Sorry to see you go, but I do understand. I have taken several breaks from the site myself.

There have been many times that I have felt the same way. But honestly, if this were simply a place to rejoice, well that would get old after a while too. The purpose is to help and support each other and to have the opportunity to pay our own successes forward. You are right, there are so many negative posts here. I tend to just skip over them and look for the ones that I think I can actually offer some help. Congrats to you on your weight loss so far and good luck on your continued success.

I haven't been on this site very long. I joined in July just before I went to my surgeon's WLS seminar, so I don't have a reference to compare. However, I have found this site to very helpful and supportive.

I have made friends. I have identified several experienced lap banders that I hope to emulate. I have learned the things that may cause me problems. I have learned suggestions for dealing with stuck episodes. I have learned which foods to be especially cautious of eating.

This is a place to learn, a place to vent frustrations, a place to get a pat on the back, and a place to get a kick in the butt, if needed.

Good luck with your last 15 lbs and please come back and let us Celebrate your success with you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
