Hi....I noticed that my hair is unbelievably thin. Has anyone experienced this, and if so, did your hair get back to normal? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I have also done a Keratin treatment back in June, but it was not my first one and never made my hair this way previously.

I do not have that problem but, I have been told by my nutritionist that insufficient Protein levels will make your hair fall out. They recommend at least 60 grams a day. I try to do at least 100 grams of protein a day. Hair loss can be caused by other things such as illness or genetics but I would start with trying to add a lot of protein to your diet.

Protein, protein, protein. If you are not tracking it, you can go to myfitnesspal.com. It's a great web site that will track all your nutrition. I also take Biotin. How long have you been banded?

Thanks everyone. I just started taking Biotin so I hope I notice a difference. I was banded in February of this year.

About 6 months post op I started loosing hair. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was from rapid weight loss. He said your body goes into a kind of shock. It stopped a couple months later. I didn't take any kind of supplement, and ate about 80 gms of protien a day. I was lucky to have started out with a pretty thick head of hair.

I already have hair loss and I haven't had the band yet- bad genetics. So I have been reading on how it can get worse post-lab band. It looks like Biotin is the way to go- that and enough protien. Dietary daily recommendations are 5000 to 7500mcg/day. I plan to start that right away to see if it helps. The stuff I ready said most people get enough of it in their daily diet, but I can imagine post-lab band we might not. Let me know if it helps, I see you said you're gonna start it. Me too! We will learn together!

Tabby.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
