Omg, I'm Normal!!!

Recommended Posts

Just like every morning for the last 3 1/2 years, I weighed myself when I got up. My little friend, Mr. scale, smiled up at me and said, "You weigh 169 pounds!" Really? 169?! I had to step off and try again. It had to have malfunctioned! Nope...169! That gives me a BMI within the normal range for the first time since...I don't know...potty training? It may sound stupid but I actually broke into tears! I've been fat my entire life. When I started this journey in 2008 I was a whopping 324 pounds with a BMI around 48. Look at me now! I've gone from a size 4X to a 10-12. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I don't even recognize the woman looking back at me. Is that really the same girl who could single-handedly bankrupt the all-you-can-eat joints? Anyway, I just wanted to share this with all of you, my LBT friends and let you know that if I can do this ANYONE can. If you're afraid of failure or frustrated over a plateau just persevere. Keep following the plan no matter how long it takes. Eventually the weight loss will come. I plateaued for almost 2 years only losing an average of 1 pound a month. Success is within your grasp...just reach out and grab it!

CONGRATULATIONS, Cindy!!!!!!

That is what I strive for, a normal BMI. I'm one year in and can see how slow the journey can be, but I am happy to be so much more active and feel so much better than this time last year. I will get there, just like you did!

What an awesome achievement! You are, and have been, a true inspiration to me throughout my journey! I think of you often when the scale isn't cooperating, and realize the dilligence it takes to stay the course on this sometimes slow journey. Thank you Cindy and a huge Cingratulations!!!!

Congratulations, Cindy. I think I know just how important this milestone is to you. After three

years of hard work and deprivation, you finally made it. It couldn't have happened to a better

Gee.....and I was happy just being overweight (as opposed to being morbidly obese then obese)

Congrats! I hope to be there soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
