bromo 17 Posted November 22, 2011 I plan on eating a bite or two of everything. I will still use my salad plate while everyone else uses their big old dinner plates. I have decided I not even attempt to keep up with my calories and carbs that day. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a diet, and so I will just have little portions but still enjoy the day with family and friends and the foods that only get prepared once a year. 1 Leisha249 reacted to this
cbreeden28 23 Posted November 22, 2011 I'm with bromo. I plan on just having a few bites of everything on a smaller plate vs. everyone's elses jumbo plates. I just got my first fill yesterday, so I need to be careful and really watch what and how I eat. I'm kind of glad that I won't have that overstuffed feeling this year like all the years past. bander11 0 Posted November 22, 2011 Ditto on what everyone else said...I am just going to kind of be smart and careful but enjoying myself and family while taking small portions or bites of what I like and have spent hours making.....I haven't had a fill yet was just banded on 11/11 so I have to be really careful on the solids... Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving...
LB4Me 35 Posted November 22, 2011 Doing the same here. My husband has gotten used to being served dinner on salad plates.
B-52 7,113 Posted November 23, 2011 Yes but just think of all the compliments you are going to get from all those people you have not seen for a while. That in itself will motivate anybody! With every food I love on the table, I am determined to at least TASTE everything there. I'll start with the sliders first and work my way up to the stuffing. 1 Leisha249 reacted to this

Dulci 108 Posted November 23, 2011 I plan on having some turkey, cranberry sauce and dessert. My wonderful hubby is making me a low(er) fat/carb Egg Nog cheesecake (lots of protein!) I can't wait for the day.
Humming Bird 275 Posted November 23, 2011 This will be my 3rd Thanksgiving with the band. I plan out my day so I can have a little bit of each of the things I want. It may sound a bit crazy, but this plan includes pumpkin pie for Breakfast ... lol, it's the only time it fits in. It worked out well the last 2 years, so my plan will stay about the same. I actually lost weight during Thanksgiving week the first 2, now I'll just maintain this year doing it the same way.
moni_monica 1 Posted November 23, 2011 I'm 5 days out of my Lap Band surgery, so I'm still on my liquid diet. Although I'm not a "Thanksgiving food" person I'm gonna miss the rolls and pecan pie! 1 chevy4x4man72 reacted to this
helen098 33 Posted November 23, 2011 I will just eat a little of the stuff I love and don’t eat year round like stuffing and cheesecake Won’t pig out(will I can’t unless I want to throw up) like years past Will try to remember with the holiday is all about not the food
thebandedman 3 Posted November 24, 2011 I plan to try a little of each my favorites and not have to beach myself after dinner like in past years. I'm the cook so I know what I put in the food and which are the healthiest. My ham is done and I had some of it with an egg in a Breakfast burrito. That was a 261 calorie and 24 Protein meal. Looking forward to a little pecan pie. The first real sweet since my pre-op diet . TBM
highland 168 Posted November 24, 2011 Well I am a crazy person when it comes to journaling my food so this is how I handled our early Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday. Before the meal I planned out exactly what I would eat and journaled it. Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: 3 oz turkey ( ate all of this first without anything else on my plate) 1/4 c stuffing ( didn't eat it all ) 1/4 c mashed potatoes 2 T gravy 1/4 c fresh green Beans Dinner: 3 oz Turkey 1/16 piece of pumpkin pie with 1 T SF cool whip It was somewhat easy for me because it was just my hubby, son, and myself so I didn't make my fav. (sweet potatoes)! I was able to easily stay under 1000 calories and lost a pound this morning! Very happy! I had a great time visiting with my son, who lives out of town, and enjoying the day guilt free. Also his enthusiasm for my weight loss was very motivating. On his last visit I was down 30. Have a great day however YOU choose to do it! We are all blessed to have this wonderful band helping us with our journey!
Ms Bandit N AZ 1 Posted November 24, 2011 I'm on day 7 onto "smushies" so it will be interesting. I'm looking forward to enjoying myself with the fam and not stuffing myself as usual.
bobrocky 8 Posted November 24, 2011 Pretty much the same for me. I'm making the turkey. Deep fried! But I checked and the calories are actually close to the same as roasting it. Just 20 more per serving. Just going to eat a bit of everything. I don't have full restriction, so I can eat more, but I'm going to try not to. And if as some have said, if I space it out a bit, it won't be so bad. At least the turkey is good Protein.< /p>
