Pain After Eating Solids For The 1st Time After Lap Band Surgery

Recommended Posts

I had a few bites of chicken in Soup for the 1st time since surgery and now have shoulder pain again and weird stomach pains all over not localized to one spot. Doesn't feel like food is stuck.. Feels weird. Has anyone experienced this?

It depends on how far post op you are. It may simply be that your stomach is not yet ready for solids.

I feel fine today. But I am a little scared to start soft food on Thursday as planned. Suggestions anyone?

I had to be on liquids for 10 days, and then mushies (puree'd stuff) for another 5 weeks. I definitely wasn't ready for solids until then. I would stay with mushies for a while, and eat really slowly, and really feel each bite as it goes down, and wait a few seconds between bites, and see how you feel after each one. If it still hurts, slow down. Just find a pace that works for you, and incorporate solids slowly, one ingredient at a time. Good luck!
