How Much Did You Lose On Pre Lap Band Op Diet?

Recommended Posts

I have my surgery on Monday and I've only lost 11 pounds so far! I didn't even lose anything between yesterday and today! AGghh...I'm a little worried it might not be enough. I just wanted to know what everyone else has lost on their pre op diets? Ive been on a Protein only shakes for 10 days and then tomorrow, I'll be on Clear Liquids. I'm hoping to lose at least 2-4 more pounds but who knows. Do you think 11 pounds is enough? Thanks!

It probably will be. The object of the liquid diet is to take as much fat off the liver and reduce the size of the organ

itself. I'd say do the best you can.

11lbs is a great pre-op loss. I lost 16lbs. 3lbs the day after my surgery and I havent lost anymore since I have been able to go back on liquid diet. My band doesnt get tightened until 6 weeks post-op, is that different in America????

As another poster said the pre op is to reduce the size of the organs specifically your liver as they pull it back a bit to put the band on. So 11 lbs is great. Actually for me I was not even put on a pre op diet, each dr is different some have you on complete liquids. My daughter is in the process of being banded in early Dec and she starts a pre op on Monday, 3 meals a day largely protien and veg, and 2 Protein shakes.

Good luck to you sure you will do great.

Regards

ROSS

Just started the pre-op yesterday, so nothing to report yet. I lost 14 pounds from my first surgeon's visit to my

pre-op weigh in on 11/17. Pretty darn proud of myself. Bear gained a pound.

Our pre-op is liberal for a liquid plan. Low sugar yogurt, cream of wheat !!, and canned Tomato Soup made with Water, and all the similar stuff. Had a bowl of cream of wheat with Almond Milk for lunch.< /p>

Just hanging in there.

my surgery is tomorrow and i have lost a total of 7.1 kilos i think that is around 15.6 pounds? was hoping to lose 10 kilos->22 pounds by then because that is what my doctor was expecting but i got a severe bout of gastroenteritis before and that ended up stopping the weight loss for a few days because i had to go back to eating normal foods, dont worry! any loss is good loss!!

I lost 26 lbs in my 2 week preop diet. And the diet is to shrink your liver so they can get to your stomach and not have to cut you open.

My doctor didn't require a pre-op diet but I took itn upon myself to go on one anyway. I lost 15. Did your doctor give you a number? I would think that 11 is plenty. Good luck on your surgery.

I lost 22 lbs on the 2 week pre op diet but the amount is very individualized.... if you followed it per your Dr instruction you should be fine. Its all about shrinking the liver according to my Dr. I also think getting you used to liquid is an added bonus since you have 3 weeks of it to look forward to depending on your Dr instruction of course.

I lost 12 lbs on my liquid diet. My dr didn't have a specific number to lose during this time.. He just said it was so my liver would shrink.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
