Ever feel like you're doing something wrong?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has days they feel like they just aren't 'getting' the band? I've lost 20lbs and 16in since the pre-op diet started. I'm careful what I eat, exercising 4 days a week on average but I'm just not losing. Maybe I'm not eating as well as I thought I was, maybe I'm eating too much or too often. I've only had one fill so I have 3cc in my band. Probably just having one of 'those' days and wishing I'd be seeing more of a result on the scale. Is this normal or am I really doing something wrong?

Are you losing inches? If you are working out abs tracking calories you will lose. I tell myself everyday that I am healthy with no reason not to lose weight so when I'm not it will happen because I can't defy science for long :)

you are in bandster hell. relax, what you are experiencing is normal. Once you get to your green zone/sweet spot, you will start to lose consistently. You just need to get there! My line of thinking in the beginning was that I just wanted to maintain the weight loss between fills. Then the weight just started to move. You'll be okay.

When in doubt, track what you eat and put it into MyFitnessPal or Livestrong's Daily Plate. See what your calories add up to and your macro nutrients.

Track your exercise and make sure that you're actually eating enough to support the exercise you're doing.

Drink lots of Water and be sure to take your vitamins...the Water is super important to flush your kidneys and liver and rev up your metabolism.

I'm a true believer in a "tight band" with restriction - Living in the Green Zone.

I'm beginning to think that the first few months, AKA "Bandster Hell" is like "Hell Week" for USA Special forces. Kind of a "Basic Training / Boot Camp"

A period of time for "Indoctrination" in the proper eating habits, food recognition, excercise, (PT) before the day comes when you graduate into the "Green Zone" and you are turned loose!

Where would we all be if we were in the green zone the day after surgery??

Me and my Dr get along pretty well. I'm going to pass that by him and see what response I get.001_rolleyes.gif

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
